“Blade…” She calls my name in part embarrassment and part arousal.

I give her a wink, knowing already that I’ve made her wet with my crass words. I’ve never talked this way to a woman in my life, and if it were anyone else, I wouldn’t be saying these filthy things. But there’s something about Gwen that brings out the primal side in me.

I slip into my gear easily, practice having taught me exactly how to draw the bowstring with my teeth using a mouth tab I made myself. The muscles in my jaw and neck burn from the tension, but I ignore it. The only thing I’m thinking about is impressing Gwen and getting her back to my cabin where we can spend the rest of the day naked.

I release the tab and the arrow flies straight, hitting the target with expert precision. It’s a perfect bull’s-eye. Normally, that sight alone is enough to fill me with pride. But when Gwen jumps up and down and claps her hands together, a new sense of satisfaction fills me. I did that. I delighted my curvy goddess and made her tits bounce.

“Can you show me how to do that too?” She’s looking up at me with those big, brown eyes, and there’s nothing I can deny her. She’s my whole world now, and she’ll never want for anything again as long as she lives. Certainly, not affection or protection or love. She’ll have all of those things from me in spades.

I gesture for her to come closer, and when she does, I kiss her with all the longing and love I feel. I can’t tell her I love her quite yet, not until I make my confession about Landon. But once I do that, nothing will stop me from claiming Gwen for my very own.

I spend the rest of the morning teaching Gwen how to shoot an arrow. She’s not a natural, and she misses almost every shot. But I don’t think that’s why she wanted me to show her how to shoot. No, if the way she’s pressing her ass up against my groin is any indication, she’s far more interested in teasing and taunting me than she is learning this sport.

Gabby calls just as were finishing the lesson, and it’s the only thing that keeps me from turning Gwen over my knee and warming her bottom for the way she’s been teasing me for hours. The thought of her on my lap, squirming and pleading for mercy has my cock even harder.

As we ride in my truck to the auto shop, Gwen fidgets in the seat beside me.

“What’s on your mind?” I’ve never been like this with another person. I never cared what anyone else was thinking, but with Gwen, I find myself wanting to know everything in her head. I want her to share every thought she has with me. I want to know what troubles her, both the big and small. I want to be the man that is always there for her.

“Why do they call you Blade? I mean, it’s not like it’s a terribly common name. It just seems that maybe it’s a nickname, but then where did you get it? Why does a guy that’s good with a bow and arrow get called Blade?”

I squeeze my hand on the steering wheel. There are things about myself that I don’t want to tell her, but I know if we’re going to have a real relationship, then she has to get to know me. The real Blade, the one I don’t want her to see. “I got it at the boys’ home. I stabbed some of the bigger boys when they wouldn’t stop picking on a little runt. We weren’t allowed weapons, but I had the ability to turn anything into a blade.”

“You must’ve been put in a rough home.” She sounds sad for me. I don’t ever want her to be sad, not over me.

“I’m not worth your pity.” Acid burns in my gut. She needs to know the type of man I am. She needs to know what I’m capable of. “I ended up in the military because I mugged someone. He was a little old man. I took his cash and his wallet. Then I shot him. Just because I was a selfish prick. I’m not a good man. I never have been, and I won’t pretend to be one now.”

“Wait, how did you end up in the military?”

“The guy I mugged was a former captain, and he saw I was on the wrong path. He could have used his influence with the judge and the district attorney to send me away for a long time. But instead, he worked out a deal, and as long as I stayed in the military for four years, my record would be wiped clean.”
