I’m in shock listening to her. Pulling off the road, I put on the hazards and signal for Dove to hop out and put out the road flags. I damn sure don’t need a cop pulling up on me right this second.

“Sara, where are you?”

“Wow, I don’t remember giving you my name, but you figured it out. Even said it more than once now. I’m impressed since I don’t know yours.” I hear the phone shuffle, “Okay, yes, got it,” she speaks to someone else. “Anyway, you aren’t the only one to figure out my name. So did this guy and his friend here,” She hums, “not really sure where I’m at. We’re not in Kansas anymore, Toto. I do know that.” I hear her shift the phone again, “Hey, ski mask man, I know it’s hot breathin’ indoors in one of those things, but I’m trying to help you help me by getting the bearded one here to be on time. Wanna tell me where we are?”

She’s obviously sharing her charm with him while talking to me. Who is this woman?

I don’t know anyone that would be calm like this. As a Hellion, I know some tough as nails women. Shit, some of the ol’ ladies in the club have endured some serious stuff. Sara is over here talking to a man who kidnapped her like she’s getting damn directions.

“Oh hell, sugar, he is giving me the throat sign thing that my time talking is up. If you could be so kind as to give these fellas whatever it is they are wanting on time, that way I could get back to my life, well it would be appreciated.”

“Fellas, how many are there, Sweets?” I ask wanting to keep her on the line while getting as much information as possible.

This shit, it’s going to be precisely delivered as agreed, she need not worry about that. After I get the transport complete, what I do to them? That’s a whole other story.

“One in front of me.” There is shuffling of the phone, “sit down,” a man orders Sara before it’s his voice that comes through the line. “Don’t fuck with us, Hellion. We got your woman but that is just the start of what I’ll do if you don’t have our shit on time.”

“Don’t you worry, motherfucker, I’ll be right on time. You have my word, you got what’s comin’ to ya.”

With that, I end the call with fury racing through my veins. I don’t need this motherfucker to find Sara. We have resources and this is where I lean on my club to make shit happen for me.

Dove is already speaking with Tripp and hands the phone to me. “You call motherfucking Hydro, Tripp. You tell him, I’ll be at the spot and on time, but terms have changed. For every minute they’ve had Sara they will pay in someone’s blood.”

“Take that shit down a notch, Country Boy. Who is Sara?”

I toss my phone to Dove. “Dove will send you the whole run down on who Sara Sweeting is. And the biggest thing is what she isn’t, and that is a part of this! You feel me, brother?”

“I get you, but you know how this goes. She isn’t in our world; she doesn’t matter to our world. You got a job to do. The marker stands, the delivery stands, what happens to her is on the DreamCatchers.”

Rage hits me. “Fuck that and fuck you, Tripp. She’s fucking innocent. Sara ain’t got one motherfuckin’ thing to do with any of this shit.”

“Watch yourself, Country Boy, I’m your President. I’m the Hellions President, don’t forget who you are. Respect that you’re pissed as fuck, but this is your only pass. I’ll end you if get disrespectful with me again, motherfucker. You know our world. We don’t start wars for barflies and random broads.”

“If the Hellions don’t take her back on this, they don’t take mine.” The words come out without a second thought.

Dove reaches over grabbing my wrist, “that’s the line you are drawing?”

“Fuck yeah it is. She’s mine. The club either backs me to get her back and square shit up for what they have done to her or fuck the club! We don’t fucking hang people who matter out to dry, she fuckin’ matters.” The words tumble out of my mouth and I’m surprised at myself. No one has ever had me rattled like this. But I will stand by my word. If the club doesn’t back me and get her out of this, that’s not a family I want to be part of, period.

A small almost laugh comes through from Tripp. “You claimed her, it’s done. Simple and yet, so complicated for you that is. I’ll get with Hydro. You park and sit tight. I’ll get some brothers to you as soon as I can. Devil’s Due MC aren’t too far from you, I know Trapper will take the call and your back. He’s fucking crazy. They owe us one. I’ll get them to you first, and then we are not far behind. Hold tight, brother.”
