Palmer winked before flopping down on her sofa. “Wait until you see her. You’re going to crap your pants.”

“Hey,” a soft voice said, causing me to turn away from Palmer.

My breath caught in my throat at the sight before me. Adelaide stood there with the sweetest smile on her face. Her hair was pulled back and her makeup was a bit heavier than usual, but not over the top. My eyes instantly went to the red lips, and I moaned internally.

“Do I look okay?” she asked as she held her arms out and turned around. My tongue felt heavy in my mouth as I let my gaze wander over her body.

She had on a beige, form-fitting strapless dress that fell to her knees. It showcased her hourglass figure, and my mouth watered as I took in the swell of her breasts. I knew without a doubt that every man in the restaurant would be looking at her. The back of the dress was open, but not too much. Just enough to show off a healthy glimpse of her pink skin. To finish off the outfit, she had on beige high heels. Her legs were gorgeous.

What I really wanted to do was take her back to her room and slowly peel that dress off of her.

All in good time, Gannon. All in good time.

“Addie, you look beautiful,” I whispered as I drew closer. I was almost afraid to touch her. She was flawless in every way.

Her cheeks turned a light shade of pink and she looked down at herself and then back up to meet my gaze. “It’s not too much? Palmer insisted I dress up, and I don’t think it’s too over the top for Pete’s but—”

“It’s perfect. You’re stunning. Beautiful. Breathtaking. I…I love you.”

Palmer and Adelaide both let out a soft laugh.

“Now why can’t I find a guy like you, Gannon?” Palmer said, sighing.

Adelaide shot her sister a grin, then turned to me. “You’re looking handsome this evening, Mr. Wilson, in your dress pants and dress shirt. I like the tie.”

I looked down at my black pants and white button-up. I was wearing the teal tie that Adelaide had bought for me our junior year of high school when I’d had to go in for a job interview. I loved that fucking tie. “This is my favorite tie. I don’t get to wear it very often.”

She raised one brow and smirked.

Palmer cleared her throat. “Okay, seriously, the sexual tension in here is starting to make me uncomfortable.”

Adelaide giggled. “We should probably get going anyway. Let me grab my purse.”

Palmer jumped up. “Wait! Here, use my clutch. It matches that dress perfectly. I already put your ID and phone in it.”

Adelaide smiled and then kissed her sister on the cheek as she took the purse from her. “Aww, thanks, Palmer. You’ve been such a huge help.”

Palmer waved her sister off. “It’s fun to play dress-up.”

Adelaide turned to me. “Ready?”

“I am. See you later, Palmer.”

She wiggled her fingers at us. “Somehow I don’t think you’ll be making your way back here tonight after wearing that dress, Addie.”

Adelaide’s face flushed red with embarrassment before she took my arm. I led her down to my Jeep, opening the passenger-side door. She slipped in and thanked me.

When I shut the door and started around to my side, Palmer called out from the front door, “Have fun!”

Adelaide waved, and once I got into the car and shut the door, she turned and flashed me that brilliant smile of hers.

“I’m starving, and all I can think about is getting some of that Italian soup.”

I chuckled. “You’re not going to try anything else on the menu?”

She gave me an expression that said of course she was going to try something else as we drove down to Main. I turned left and headed toward the bay and Pete’s Place but decided to take a bit of a longer route. I wanted to give everyone time to show up to the restaurant. Chip was already there, setting up to record the moment when I asked Adelaide to marry me. I’d given Pete another camera and told him to hide it somewhere on the deck.

Once we arrived, I parked and drew in a deep breath. Adelaide was busy looking at the parking lot. The empty parking lot.

“Let me get the door, hold on.”

“My, what a gentleman we’re being this evening.”

I picked up her hand and kissed the back of it. “I hope I am all the time.”

She winked. “Most of the time. I do like it when the bad boy comes out though.”

“Really? I’ll remember that when I peel that dress off you later.”

Her teeth dug into her lower lip, and I nearly moaned. “Keep doing stuff like biting your lip and we’re going to skip dinner and go right to dessert,” I said.
