Palmer raised her brows and took a few steps back. “I know! I thought the same thing. I don’t blame her if she wants to hook up with him. Can you imagine being married to a jerk like Jack when all you really want to do is hook up with that fine ass—”

“Palmer, we don’t gossip while we work,” my mother warned as she made her way toward us, carrying an apple pie.

Glancing back at me, Palmer shrugged. “I’m just saying that maybe they still have feelings for each other. I mean, look at you and Gannon.”

I felt a little flutter in my stomach as I glanced over at Gannon. “I am glad to be back.”

My little sister stopped wiping down a container filled with coffee creamer and looked at me. “Please. Look at the way the two of you stare at each other. That spark has not gone out or even dimmed.”

At that very moment, Gannon looked up and our eyes met. Heat pooled in the bottom of my stomach, and I had to force myself to look away.

Palmer walked past me and lowered her voice as she said, “Like I said, sparks. The two of you look like you want to rip each other’s clothes off.”

I pushed her away from me and laughed. “You’re insane.”

She raised one of her perfectly arched brows. “Am I?”

After a quick peek back at Gannon, I let out a sigh and headed over to one of my tables. I placed my hand on my cheek, which was still hot from Palmer’s observation. It was true. Being in Gannon’s house the other day was a test of my own strength, because all I had wanted to do was give myself to him right then and there.

I jumped when my father called out my name.

“Order up, Adelaide!” he said, and I hustled over to pick up Brody’s breakfast.

I grabbed it and headed toward their table. “Here you go,” I said with a smile, placing Brody’s food down in front of him. “Anything else?”

“Nope.” Brody immediately started to dig into his meal.

“Anything else for you two?” I asked. Braxton shook his head while Gannon met my gaze again. My entire body jolted at the intense look in his eyes.

He smiled and then winked. “I’m good, thanks, Addie.”

I gave him a smile in return and headed back toward the counter. Palmer was staring at us, and she shot me a goofy smile.

“Like I said—”

Before she could keep talking, I cut her off. “Hush up, Palmer.”

I could hear laughing as I walked through the kitchen again.

“Where are you going?” my father asked.

“I need something out of the cooler.”

The moment I stepped inside, I drew in a deep breath and slowly let it out. Lord, the way Gannon looked at me set my entire body on fire.

When the door to the freezer opened and my mother stared at me like I’d lost my mind, I cleared my throat.

“I, um, needed a minute to…”

“Cool off? I’d say with the way you and Gannon were looking at one another you probably need it.”

My mouth opened and then closed before I started to laugh. “Mom!”

She shrugged. “I call ’em like I see ’em, kid. Now, if you could stow those feelings away for a bit, table six needs a refill.”

And with that she walked away, leaving me standing in the cooler with a goofy smile on my face.

Gannon

“You realize you sound like a child, right?” I asked as Brody followed me down the ramp toward the port authority offices.

My brother let out a bark of laughter. “Okay, maybe the kissing sounds were a bit over the top, but my God, Gannon. The sexual tension between you two almost made me hurl my eggs back up. Hell, even Brax noticed it.”

“The kissing sounds and the fake hugging. And I’m not going to apologize for still being in love with Addie.”

He grabbed my arm. “Dude, I’m not telling you to. I’m glad to see that look in your eyes again and that smile on your face. I’m really happy Addie is back in town, and as much as Brax gives you a hard time about being with his sister, he’s happy as well.”

I hit Brody on the shoulder. “Thanks, man. I appreciate that.”

A wide smile grew over his face. “So, have you guys…you know?”

It was my turn to laugh. “I wasn’t aware you cared about my sex life.”

“I don’t, Gannon. I’m simply curious.”

Stopping before I walked into the building, I turned to face him. “I don’t kiss and tell, unlike some people.”

He frowned. “I don’t kiss and tell. Ever.”

I started to remind him of the time he got drunk and admitted he slept with Sutton, but I stopped myself. I was pretty sure Brody didn’t remember telling me that. He had never once mentioned it when he was sober, and while I knew something had happened between them, we had never really talked about it.
