“This isn’t the way I thought our first time sleeping together since I moved back would look like.”

I let a little laugh slip free and pressed back against him. I could feel the length of him growing harder, and I wanted to rock against him, but I forced myself not to.

“What should our first official date be. Bowling?” I asked.

I felt the warmth of his breath as he replied, “Bowling, it is. Now get some sleep.”

Nodding, I relaxed completely and drifted off, dreaming about Gannon making love to me after I kicked his ass at bowling.

I woke to the sound of soft snoring in my ear. When I opened my eyes, I could see streaks of sunlight peeking in from the curtains that had been pulled shut. My head still hurt slightly, and I felt like I’d been beat up by ten people, but I also felt relaxed and content with the warmth of Gannon’s body wrapped around mine.

Holy crap. Gannon is in bed with me. He’s holding me in his arms.

My body was pressed tight to his, and I could feel that he was still hard. Oh Lord, was he hard. As bad as I felt, I nearly pushed my ass against him—until I heard a soft knock at my bedroom door.

I quickly closed my eyes and decided I needed to find a place of my own as soon as possible.

“Good morning,” Palmer said after I heard the soft click of my bedroom door opening. “Sleepyheads, it’s time to wake up.”

Gannon stretched behind me, then pushed himself against my body and let out a soft groan. I nearly did the same. Damn you, Palmer!

“Addie…Gannon.”

My sister’s voice must have pulled Gannon out of his sleep, because he quickly sat up, the blanket and sheet pooling at his waist.

“Whoa, hold on there! Are you naked?” Palmer squealed.

Gannon huffed. “No, I’m not naked, Palmer. Your sister is sick, and she asked me to stay over.”

I turned from gawking at Gannon’s broad chest to see my sister standing near the foot of my bed. She crossed her arms and smirked. “Please. I’ve used that whole ‘I’m sick’ thing, too, when I wanted a guy to spend the night.”

“Did you also have a fever, achy bones and joints, and a headache so bad it made you want to throw up?” I forced myself to sit up.

Gannon was still in the bed, and he smiled when I leaned my body into his. Okay, was Palmer right? Was I using this as an excuse?

No, I really did feel like shit. But it was a good reason to feel his skin against mine.

“It was our first date,” I sighed, smiling slightly. “Can you turn off the light?”

“Um, it’s not on, Addie,” Palmer stated as she looked up at the ceiling fan.

I closed my eyes. “Christ, these pink walls make it so bright in here.”

“Here, let’s see if you still have a fever. You don’t feel as hot as you did last night,” Gannon said, pushing the thermometer into my mouth and causing me to open my eyes again.

Palmer grinned. “It’s a good thing I decided to come over last night. Mom said you were feeling bad and she’d sent some food home with Gannon. I offered to stop by since they were going to be home late, and I found the two of you snuggled up asleep. I stopped Mom when she tried to come up and check on you both last night after they got home. Dad tried to act like he wasn’t thrilled Gannon was still here, but Mom was about to jump out of her skin with excitement. Pretty sure she might hire a plane to fly around Seaside announcing you’re back together.”

I let out a groan, and Gannon chuckled.

“Mom wanted to come up this morning, too, but I lied and told her I’d seen you already and that you were sleeping peacefully in Gannon’s arms, so...”

Palmer let her voice trail off when Gannon pushed a hand through his hair. Lordy, why was that so hot?

“I forgot about that time your dad caught me up here, and he chased me out of the house with his shotgun in his hand,” he said.

Palmer and Gannon both laughed, but I simply sat there waiting for the beep of the thermometer. When it finally dinged, Gannon took it out of my mouth. “Still a slight fever, but low-grade this time. One hundred on the dot.”

I dropped my head to his shoulder. “Ugh. I still feel like crap.”

“Maybe a shower will help,” Palmer offered. “I’m sure Gannon wouldn’t mind assisting you with that.”

He grinned. “Palmer’s right, Addie. You need to eat, and a shower really might do wonders.”

“Yeah, you stink,” Palmer said. “I can smell you from here.”

I shot my sister a dirty look, then turned to Gannon. “Do I stink?”
