I look up at the dark sky. The stars are out and I try to inhale. “You will. Is this what you want?” I look back at her and she cocks her head almost confused.

“I guess. I mean, I don’t have a choice. But I didn’t want you to be surprised.”

I start to laugh and pull out another cigarette. “No, I’m not surprised.”

“So, you’re not upset?” Her voice sounds hopeful as she reaches for my hand.

“Would it make a difference?” And as I take all the smoke down my throat, the burn seems almost better than the sad and guilty look in Dolly’s eyes.

“So, you want me to take you?” Her face goes white.

“Perfect,” I spit, and a rage I didn’t know was inside me erupts.

“You don’t want me to take you, do you? You want him. I’m okay to get you off. Your dirty bad boy biker who’s not really a boyfriend because the school thinks you’re with that prick.”

“Stop it,” she explodes. “You know it’s not like that. I have to do one dance with him. Take some pict—”

“Tell me, how long have you known? Because I’ve seen stupid Homecoming posters for a month.” I pound the roof of the Jeep.

She jumps and shakes her head, her big doe eyes pleading with me, but I’m done. I’ve given her everything she has ever asked for. Fuck, no one is prouder of Dolly than me. But this shit…

“Admit it. I’m not good enough. You’re embarrassed to be my girl.” I say this almost slowly. It isn’t a question; it’s the truth and time to let the elephant out of the room. “Admit it,” I snarl.

“You ass. I fucking love you more than myself…” Her small hands go to pound my chest. That’s the thing about Dolly—she’s tiny but fucking fast, so when she strikes, you always need to be ready. I grab her wrist and shake her.

“You’re a liar. I may be a lot of things, but a liar is not one of them.”

“Wait. What are you saying?” She’s shouting but with the music blasting in the background, no one can hear us.

“I’m saying that all I have done is be there for you. Support you with your need to be liked and loved by strangers. And you can’t even stand to admit that I’m your guy.” I lean in to suck in her breath. “I love you, but this shit stops now.”

“Or what?” Her fingers curl as if she wants to scratch me open. I’d actually like for her to do it because right now, I’m so fucking sick of all this bullshit.

“I’m done.” I toss her hands away.

“Fuck you, Edge. You can’t do this.”

I turn, leaving her frozen to the spot, her luscious mouth hanging open. I’m not putting up with this anymore. I give and she takes. Ignoring all the old-timers who are either singing, fucking, or fighting, I stalk past them and make my way over to Axel and Rhys.

Rhys is strumming his guitar and Axel is smoking whatever shit he smokes.

“Give me something,” I growl at him. Arching a brow, he hands the joint over.

“Go slow. That’s some new shit.” He blows the smoke he was holding up into the night sky.

“Fuck,” I snarl as I inhale.

“That bad, huh?” Rhys asks.

“It’s a long story.” My eyes focus in on Jason and Crystal laughing with Chuckie over at the BBQ pit.

“Dude, this is Edge and Dolly. They always fight and get back together.” Axel takes the joint back and hands it to Rhys.

I already feel the tingling warmth of magic go straight to my head and my cock, which hasn’t recovered from Dolly anyway. So, now it’s hard and kind of buzzing but in a good way.

“Is that what you think? That we just break up and shit?” I stare at Axel and run my hands up and down my face. That’s when I notice the smell of her cunt on them and wish I could keep them there forever.

“I don’t care, Edge.” Axel laughs.

“Fuck off.” I drop my hands.

“Go get laid. Amber was looking for you.” I gaze around the compound. All I want is Dolly, but she’s so far away. We’re so far away…

“Dude?” Both Axel and Rhys are staring at me. Axel looks like he just ate dog shit.

“Pull it together, man. We don’t need to hear about how much you love her and how much of a fucking mess you are.” He shakes his head in disgust making me realize I must have said that out loud.

“Fuck.” I should go home. I’m in no condition to deal with people. And whatever shit we smoked has made me high as a kite. As I walk over to Jason and that posse, my cock rubs painfully against my jeans. I’m sick of Axel—he’s a dick. A sanctimonious one. I can’t wait for the day some girl fucks with his head. I’m going to laugh at him, torture him.
