“Awww, thank you.” I shake both women’s hands, then hesitate at Axel’s dark stare.

“I’m a huge fan of yours…also,” I say lamely as he arches a dark brow, his lips twitching as if he knows I think he’s scary.

“Ammo’s producing your album, right?” His deep voice matches his vibe.

“I am.” Ammo’s gravelly voice is miraculously behind me and makes me almost sag in relief as I turn to see him walking up, carrying a bottle of Jägermeister. But it’s the way his piercing blue eyes hold mine that makes me want to drop to my knees and worship his cock.

Sick. You’re really losing it, Courtney.

“Huh,” Axel says as his eyes go from me to Ammo. “Interesting.” He smiles as I feel Ammo’s hand on the back of my neck, his touch like fire, and my stomach flips and goosebumps pebble my arms.

“Yes, it really is,” Gia answers him, eyes wide as she stares at her brother, then turns to me. Her white jumpsuit sparkling when the sun hits it.

“Oh, I should shoot the cover for your new album.” She looks over my shoulder, but before I can even respond, she’s waving at someone. “Excuse me, I’ll be right back.” Then she leaves us in a whirl of coconut swirl, and I have to stop myself from grabbing her because something tells me Ammo should not be around Axel today.

“So?” Antionette clears her throat over the awkward energy, even with the music and loud laughter from everyone else. “Is the album almost done? Oh, look, there’s Tess and Reed.” She smiles, then frantically waves over a couple who are laughing with another couple.

I look up at Ammo because this is ridiculous as he takes another swig of Jägermeister.

“Tess, Reed, Jett, and Raven…this is Courtney, and you all know Ammo.” Antionette motions to us as my eyes dart to the woman who’s about my size. Because did Antionette just say Jett? As in Jett Powers? As in Rachel’s ex? That Jett?

Holy fuck!

If that’s Jett, then the petite brunette with him must be Rachel’s daughter.

I can already feel myself flushing as I stare at Raven. Trying to find some sort of answer stamped on her forehead. But she’s stunning, like there’s pretty, then there’s her. Literally nothing even resembling Rachel. This has to be a different Jett as my eyes go to him.

Because if I thought Axel was menacing, Jett is downright… intimidating.

Breathe, just breathe, Courtney. Holy shit, this is all a complete nightmare.

“Oh my God, Courtney.” Raven’s eyes are wide as she looks up at Jett, who throws his head back and laughs. Clearly, he knows his ex is my PR woman, or he’s just a rude, entitled dick.

“Jett.” Raven elbows him and he holds out his hand for me to shake.

“Courtney Falcon.” He smiles, and I notice he has a dimple as I reluctantly shake his hand. “I’ve heard a lot about you.” And for a second I feel like my brain is not working because the Antichrist is obviously standing in front of me—with Raven. The poor lost daughter of Rachel, who was seduced by her stepdad and has been taken prisoner. Only she doesn’t look lost or mistreated, if anything she looks really happy, and all I’m doing is standing here like a crazy person shaking his hand.

“Oh, thanks.” I take my hand away. “Nice to meet both of you.” And I can’t stop staring. It’s like a car accident, you want to look away but can’t.

“I remember you.” Ammo points at Raven, and I almost snatch that green bottle from him because this is beyond painful. And it’s not fair that everyone has drinks, minus me. I’m the one who needs the mind-numbing liquid.

“Yes, we met at one of Gia’s showings. Actually, it was at Tess’s art gallery.” Raven nods her head, clearly as uncomfortable as me, so screw it.

“I’m sorry, we might as well talk about the elephant in the room. Your mother Rachel is my PR woman.” And poor Antionette chokes on her champagne as Tess looks at me, horrified. The only one who is smiling is Axel as he caresses his wife’s back.

“You okay, Cookie?”

“I’m fine,” she croaks out.

“I’ll get you some water.” Julianna turns and leaves as Antionette nods and follows.

Perfect, just perfect.

I look at Raven who is just staring at me, as if unsure what to say, and then Jett, whose eyes are narrowed on me as he slowly takes a sip from his drink.

“Wait, the cunt is your ex-fiancée?” Ammo’s voice is extremely loud, and the girls standing next to us turn and stare.

“Ammo!” I gasp, horrified.

“Watch it, that’s Raven’s mother,” Jett mumbles, and this time Ammo throws his head back to laugh.

“Christ.” Reed steps in. “You know I love drama, but I think this is a personal matter. Good luck.” He grabs Tess’s hand and literally pulls her away.
