She giggled. “I don’t know.”

“It’s going to be hard to give you a bath if you keep kissing me like that constantly.” He winked at her.

She gasped. “Give me a bath?”

He chuckled and stepped closer, sliding his hands up her back to haul her against his chest. “Yes, baby. Not tonight, but one day soon I’m going to want you to spend the night and let Daddy take care of you. Does that sound appealing to you?”

She nodded slowly, her heart racing.

“Good. I’m glad.” He tucked his hands under her butt and lifted her off the counter. “Wrap your legs around me. We have to get out of this bathroom before you take advantage of me.”

She swatted at him, giggling. “That’s silly.”

“Is it?” He lifted a brow but he was grinning.

Soon, they were back in the living room, and Riley wasn’t sorry when he chose to sit in the armchair, keeping her on his lap, straddling him.

It was intimate and she loved it.

His expression grew serious as he ran his hands up and down her back. “I know we’ve done a lot of teasing tonight, but I want to make sure we’re on the same page, Riley. I want to be your Daddy. I want you to be my Little girl. Is that something you’re interested in, baby?”

She couldn’t keep from grinning. “Yes, Sir. But, uh…”

He narrowed his gaze. “No buts. I know we have a lot to learn about each other, but none of it will change how I feel about you.”

“How can you be so sure? We’ve only gone out this one time.”

“Daddies just know, baby girl. And I’ve known you for a while. It’s not like we met two days ago. We simply realized what we meant to each other that day.”

She nodded slowly. She wanted him to be right. She wanted everything he was saying to be true. Was it possible?

“What worries you?” he asked.

“Lots of things.”

He grinned and squeezed her hips. “Your messy apartment?”

She giggled. “It’s not messy. Not really. Not like you’re thinking.”

“Hmm. Now I’m even more curious. When will I get to see it?”

She shrugged. “I don’t know.”

“You could just stay here and never go home and avoid showing me your apartment altogether,” he teased.

She rolled her eyes, keeping up the banter. “What would I wear?”

“Nothing? I guess you could borrow my sweatpants when you have to go to work, but you could go naked here at the house.” He kissed one of her shoulders. “I bet when I reveal all these amazing tattoos, I’m going to want to spend hours studying them. They’re so intricate and gorgeous.”

She sucked in a breath and held it as he ran his finger along the edge of her shoulder, dipping it under the corner of her tank top before easing both it and the strap of her bra off her shoulder.

He didn’t go any further. He didn’t pull her bra down or reveal her breasts, but he did stare closely at the vine of roses that trailed down her arm from her neck and over her shoulder.

“Your artist is fantastic,” he commented.

She bit her lip, not ready to tell him who designed these tattoos. She never told anyone about her secret hidden talent. Everyone who admired her tattoos assumed another tattoo artist designed them. But that wasn’t true. Riley sketched everything on her body. And as soon as Milo stepped into her apartment, she would no longer be able to hide her secret from him.

She wasn’t a slob. She was an artist. Her studio apartment was small, and every extra space had an easel with one of her latest designs propped up. She had six or seven works in progress at any one time.

Sketching calmed her. It soothed her mind after several hours of adulting. Her apartment was a place where she rejuvenated so she could face the extroverted world again.

The oddest thing was that she didn’t feel stressed with Milo. She felt calm and relaxed in his presence, in his home, and especially on his lap.

This moment sitting here was like a dream. Could it be real? Could Milo be her Daddy?

She’d always worried that if she did find a Daddy someday, she would end up chasing him away with her neediness, but Milo didn’t stress her out. He calmed her. And she suspected there could be more of that if she stuck around long enough to find out.

Chapter Six

Waking up in her own bed alone, Riley pulled her soft blanket up under her chin as memories of last night drifted through her mind. Milo wanted her as his Little. He’d never revealed his Daddy side before. With a wiggle in bed, she admitted to herself how much she liked that he was selective—and that he had chosen her.

Milo hadn’t allowed her to spend the night. He’d controlled their exchange of kissing, never letting himself get carried away while acknowledging his desire for her. He’d shared bluntly that it wasn’t that he didn’t want her, it was that he knew they needed more time to establish their relationship.
