“Wes,” he moaned as Wesley kissed and nipped his belly and chest and pushed his shirt up. “Finally.”

“You taste so good,” Wesley mumbled against his collarbone. “Why do you taste so good?”

“Mate.” He raised his arms, encouraging Wesley to pull his shirt off. He needed to be skin to skin.

“I want you to be.” Wesley’s voice was so soft Jobe almost didn’t hear him.

“I am.” He tangled his fingers in Wesley’s thick black hair and held his face steady as he met his gaze. Maybe now, Wesley would finally accept the gift fate had given them. Maybe now, Wesley would finally accept him. “I always have been.”

For one heartbeat, Wesley pulled his eyebrows together and searched Jobe’s eyes, but then he groaned, lowered his face, and began lapping at Jobe’s skin. “Can’t get enough of you.” Kneeling between Jobe’s thighs, he blindly reached for Jobe’s feet and pulled his socks off. “Wanted you from the minute you opened that door.” He grappled with Jobe’s button and zipper. “I should have been too tired to get it up but then I saw you and…” He took hold of Jobe’s waistband and yanked his jeans and briefs down in one motion. “Oh lord.” He sat back on his heels, stared at Jobe’s erection, and licked his lips. The room was dark, but the moonlight clearly provided enough light for Wesley to see what he had exposed. “You’re so hard.” He flicked his gaze up to Jobe’s face. “You’re not doing this for the pack.”

Although that hadn’t sounded like a question, Jobe responded anyway. “What we do in our bed has nothing to do with the pack.”

“Our bed?” Wesley arched his eyebrows.

His new passionate confessions notwithstanding, Wesley had been reserved when he first arrived in Red River, so rather than pushing him, Jobe had offered him one of the guest rooms and that was where he had spent every night since.

“It can be ours.” Jobe rubbed Wesley’s shoulder, caressed his arm, and then slid his hand across Wesley’s hip and over the bulge stretching his track pants. “Whenever you want.” He gave Wesley’s package a light squeeze. “Anything you want.”

“Ungh,” Wesley moaned. He bucked his hips, flared his nostrils, and bit his lip. “What about what you want?”

“I want you.” Jobe rubbed Wesley’s cloth-covered cock.

“Want you too.” Wesley’s eyes rolled back in his head as he humped against Jobe’s palm.

Seeing his mate’s skin prickle with pleasure, hearing his voice thick with lust, and smelling the perfume of arousal wafting from him, made patience impossible, so Jobe sat up and took hold of Wesley’s shirt hem. “Let’s get you undressed,” he said as he slipped his hand under the shirt and slid his fingers up Wesley’s flank. “Been itching to see you with your clothes off.”

Wesley’s head had been tilted back, his eyes closed, but he snapped to attention, circled his palm around Jobe’s forearm, and stopped his upward progression. “Turn around,” he rasped.

Jobe tipped his head to the side and blinked.

“I want to take you on your hands and knees,” Wesley explained.

As much as Jobe wanted to look into Wesley’s deep brown eyes when they finally came together after all the years of waiting, he understood the wisdom of that position for now. Although he had been longing for his mate and family since childhood, Wesley hadn’t yet been in Red River a month and it wouldn’t be fair to rush him. Jobe only hoped his mate wouldn’t want to wait too long before taking the next step on their journey.

“Anything you want.” Jobe flipped over, tucked his knees under his belly, and lowered his shoulders to the mattress. “I’m all yours.”

For a few moments, nothing happened. No contact. No words. Only the faint whoosh from the wind outside and the heaving breaths from the man behind him. Then a glimmer of heat touched the top of Jobe’s spine and slowly slid down. Wesley’s fingertip.

“You really are beautiful, Jobe.” One finger turned into five as Wesley spread his hand over Jobe’s back. “The most beautiful person I’ve ever met.”

Jobe wanted to say he saw Wesley the same way, but his throat was too thick for words. Wesley had been friendly since his arrival in Red River. He was always interested in conversation, he graced Jobe with frequent smiles, and he even gifted him the occasional touch. But he hadn’t exhibited the raw need Jobe felt when he so much as thought about his mate, so the effusive words and passionate touches were a surprise. A welcome, highly desired surprise.

“Jobe?” Wesley continued the downward trail, dragging his fingertips through Jobe’s channel.

“Yes?”

“Earlier you said you haven’t been with another man.” He traced his fingertip over Jobe’s pucker, making him gasp. “So this’ll be your first time?”

“Uh-huh. It’s my first time doing this,” Jobe said breathlessly. “But I’ve fantasized about it.” He spread his knees farther apart, trying to open himself up as much as possible. “Been wanting it for so long.” Some days the emptiness had nearly consumed him and the only way he had stayed sane had been to shift into his wolf form and run for hours, not stopping until his limbs shook from overexertion.
