“She loves you. If you had flicked through my messages, you would have seen that she messages every day to check on you.”

“You can give her my number,” she says, her smile growing.

“I will, but don’t blame me when you become best friends with her and then you can’t get rid of her.”

“She has Sailor.”

“No, Keir has Sailor.”

“Are your mother and Sailor not close?” she asks, tilting her head, and my hand brushes her hair over her shoulder with the movement.

“They are, but I have a feeling you two will have more in common.”

“Joey.”

“Hmm…”

“I’m ready for round two.” She sits up and removes her towel, dropping it to the floor beside us. Then she scoots backward until she reaches my briefs, freeing my cock. “Do you want me on my knees, Joey, like a good girl?”

Fuck. My cock strains, and her eyes flick to it with a smile. She gets off the bed and drops to her knees. I reach for my phone as she clasps my cock in her small hand, then her mouth covers the tip, her tongue flicks out, and her eyes meet mine.

“Stay still.” I unlock my phone and take a photograph.

“See what a good girl you are? Now I can set that as my screen saver.” She doesn’t tell me no, and you can’t see my cock, just her eyes looking up with something in her mouth.

It’s beautiful, just as she is.

Fuck.

Fuck.

I’m going to fall in love with my wife.

And I’m not sure how I feel about that.

TWENTY-SIX

ADORA

Every day for three days straight, we fucked, we ate, and we slept together. We spoke often but kept things basic, discussing things like his brother, his family, and my love for books. He tells me how much he despises but respects Lucas. That his brother is a man he respects not just because they are related but for who he is as a person.

He reads a lot, but we don’t have the same taste in reading material. So I gave him one of the books I love, and he devoured it. It’s called The Sweet Gum Tree written by Katherine Allred. When he finished, he sat there speechless and then offered me a smile.

“I can see the appeal.”

“Wait until you get to the dirtier books.” I offered him a wink. Then we left to head home.

Now we’re sitting in a car on our way back to his place. I guess I should say our place.

“Your leg is bouncing.”

I glance down as his hand slides over my thigh, and he gives it a comforting squeeze.

“It’s a lot,” I tell him honestly. “We’re no longer in our bubble, and this is going to be an adjustment.” He pulls me to him, lifting me easily and placing me on his lap. His hand gently pushes my hair back from my face.

“When you need our bubble, just say, ‘bubble.’” His words make me smile.

“And what do you supply in that bubble?” I ask, pulling at his shirt.

“Whatever it is that you need. Me, peace, you name it, I’ll supply it.”

I hum in answer, sinking into his embrace. “And what if I require something a little more?” Turning on his lap, my knees rest on either side of him. The car comes to a stop, and he leans forward, his hand threading through my hair as he pulls me to him. His lips touch mine ever so softly before they smash onto mine with dominance, our mouths dancing together in a bruising kiss.

It’s a dance that only skilled people should do—fuck, kiss, kill—yet here we are tangoing with our mouths as if we do it every day.

Joey sure does know how to tango.

“Aww, look… they finally learned to like each other.” We break apart to see Lucas at the door. When I peek out, I see several people there, even his mother. I move off Joey’s lap and scoot to my side of the car, so we aren’t even touching.

“What the fuck are you doing here?” Joey asks Lucas as he gets out of the car. He shuts his door and comes around to mine, opening and holding out his hand for me to take. “Are you nervous?” He nods to my legs which are still jittery, and I shake my head, taking his offered hand. “They’re here to welcome us home. It’s a lunch.”

Oh.

Everyone is making their way inside as I get out of the car. The driver grabs our bags as we follow them in.

“So, how did the fucking go? Good, I’m assuming?” Lucas asks as we enter.

I swat his chest and walk past him. Lucas doesn’t bother me—I’m used to him—but he seems to grate on Joey’s nerves, which, in turn, makes Lucas want to do it even more.

“Lucas,” Joey’s mother warns.

Lucas holds up his hand and grips Chanel to him for protection, standing behind her and wrapping his arms around her middle. “I’ll behave, Mrs. Rossi,” he says politely and then kisses Chanel’s neck.
