“You’re gonna take it from me all night long, baby doll. I’m going to make you remember who you belong with.”

"Yes…yes." Her hoarse, throaty cries nearly drove me wild. I arced in and out of her, riding my own wave of pleasure until the pressure grew too great. "You gonna come for me again, baby doll? Squeeze my dick up tight and make me shout?" I reached around the front of her hips. Sliding my hand under to rub her clit.

She screamed, convulsing beneath me with a violent climax. I shoved in tight, my loins pressing against her heated ass cheeks and savored the sensation of her tight, pulsing squeezes. As soon as she was done, I let go, held myself deep and filled the condom. Pulse after pulse of cum came from my balls. One of these days we’d forgo condoms so nothing was between us, and I’d mark her as mine. Inside and out.

I pulled out, rid myself of the condom in the bathroom then returned. She scrambled onto her knees and faced me. I walked to her, and she wrapped her arms around me like vines and burst into tears.

Keeping her close, I settled on the bed with her on top of me and let her cry. I didn’t know how long she’d held them in. Maybe since her dad had left her to fend for herself when she’d been caught stealing the ring. Maybe when her mom skipped out on her. I had no idea and it didn’t matter.

I was here, and she could cry all she wanted.

CHAPTER

TWENTY-TWO

MEGAN

Hayes left at eight the next morning. It was the first night I didn’t kick him out of my bed and out of my house.

He stayed, and for the first time ever, I slept in a man’s arms. I breathed in his scent and was enveloped in his strength.

It had been hard to look him in the eye this morning because not only had I cried all over him, but he’d also spanked my ass.

And I’d liked it.

I was game for all kinds of things when it came to sex, but that spanking he’d delivered had been different. He’d been punishing me, not for breaking into a house and stealing something but because I’d done it alone. I’d kept it a secret and kept him out of it, out of my life.

I felt raw and exposed and confused. But also… whole.

As I poured my second cup of coffee and stared out my back window, I couldn’t remember feeling less alone. He wasn’t even here, and I felt like Hayes was mine.

No, Raf.

He was everything I never expected. Never knew could be mine.

He was–

A pounding on the front door had me spilling my coffee.

“Shit,” I muttered.

I’d planned to call Burns this morning to meet him, but it seemed he beat me to it. The last thing I wanted to do was face him, but I didn’t need him catching my neighbors’ attention.

I yanked the door open.

Just as I thought, it was the asshole along with his two goons.

And my father. He was a surprise.

“Dad!” I said. I wasn’t a hugger and neither was he, but I felt the need to reach out. I took his hand in mine and gave it a squeeze.

His face was all beat up. A cut was scabbed on his forehead. He had a black eye, and his lip was split. And the guy who’d meted it out was here with us. I wanted to punch him and see how he liked it.

“Hey, Meggie.”

I glared at Burns who remained silent, entering into my living room just as he had the last time, like he owned the place. Or me.

“Heard on the police scanners about the robbery,” Dad said with a triumphant smile. “I’m proud of you. I knew you could do it.”

“With the right incentive,” Burns added, not to be left out.

“I’ll get you the dagger, and you can get the hell out of here,” I snapped. “You’ll have what you want to leave my father alone.”

Burns didn’t say anything, only narrowed his gaze. He didn’t like being told off, probably especially not by a woman, but he stayed quiet. Raising his hand, he waved it to indicate I should do what I just said.

Turning on my heel, I went into the kitchen, opened my gun safe and retrieved the dagger. Returning to the living room, I slapped it in Burns’ hand.

“There. I retrieved it for you. Now leave me and my dad alone and get the hell out,” I practically growled.

My dad came over, set his hand on my shoulder and smiled. His eyes shone bright with… pride? Affection? It had been years since I’d seen my dad look at me this way. All because I’d rescued him.

“Ah Meggie, I knew you could do it. Burns didn’t believe me, but I had faith in you.” He chuckled. “I taught you everything you know.”
