“Why in the world would you be sorry? You have been doing exactly what you should.”

“And what is that?”

“Burying yourself into your new life, Winnie. I know you love this place and trust me the animals miss you especially Mayhem, but this is an opportunity for you to build something different. Something just for you. You can make your life anything you want it to be now, sweetie.” A rush of tears came to my face forcing me to put my head down. Instantly I feel Tommy’s arms around me.

“I don’t know what that is. I feel like I am flailing. I don’t know what it looks like anymore.” I tell him shrugging my shoulders but not letting him go.

“I don’t believe that, Winnie. I think you know.” Pulling back I look at him.

“Then you tell me. What is it then?” he touches my face before smiling and knocking the air from my lungs with his studious answer.

“Happiness, Winnie. You can choose happiness.” His words hit me in a place where happiness and sorrow collide, battling for which one wins and suddenly, sorrow begins to retreat. I think I never gave a word to what I was seeking, therefore I couldn’t admit what it is I am feeling now. “You see it don’t you? I bet you feel it too.” He looks so pleased with himself, that I can’t help rolling my eyes at him before smiling and nodding my head. “Good. Now go and tell that husband of yours you are all in.”

Cheesing, I lean over to kiss his cheek and run out the door. I could go back to his office but first I want to go home and pick up something. Home. That is the first time I have allowed myself to think of it like that with ‘his’ being before the word. It is my home. Suddenly I feel light like I am floating on air, a balloon lifting me from the cave I have been hellbent on burying myself in.

Pulling up to the gate, I see a car I don’t recognize in the driveway but there is no one in it. I know right away something is off and that is something I am not going to like. I can feel it in the pit of my stomach.

Putting the key in the door I walk in and see a woman walking around like she owns the place. “Uh, hello.” I say walking into the kitchen.

“Hello yourself. You must be the young lady my son has married.” Pop goes the balloon.

Chapter Nine

Raylan

I know I should have answered my mom’s call but I was in a Winona fog and hearing my mom’s voice would have burst it. Not to mention I have yet to tell her about my marriage. In the south getting married without your family is equal to denouncing your bloodline and I need to protect my kitten from that as long as possible.

I have been sitting at my desk, replaying her pussy wrapped around my cock, bouncing on my lap. Hell, I can still smell the proof of what happened in here. I wonder if I can get a candle made with our combined release? I would love to work to that scent for the rest of my life.

“Dr. Morris, your wife is on line one.” Without hesitation, I pick up the phone.

“I was just thinking about…”

“You need to come home.” She says cutting me off. Oh shit. Her voice is off. Something in it is shaky.

“What’s happened? Are you alright?” I am already out of my office walking toward my car.

“Your mom is here, Ray.” Double shit. She hangs up after dropping that bomb on me and I don't blame her.

I am pulling up in what feels like seconds and walking through the door. “Ah. There he is the man of the house. The son born of my womb who doesn’t think his family has the right to know he is getting married.” Dear God. Looks like time is up.

Not responding to her dramatic comment, I walked over to her and kiss her on the cheek. “Mother.” She looks at me from the corner of her eye. I keep looking around trying to see if I can see Winona, but she is nowhere in sight.

“I sent your bride upstairs. She looked like she was being strangled to death.” I bet. “Go ahead and go to her. Freshen up. I am making your favorite for dinner. It will be ready in half an hour.” Nodding, I walk up the stairs and open the bedroom door. Not sure what I am going to find but I see her sitting on the bed.

“Hey kitten.” She looks up and smiles tentatively at me. “What are you doing up here?” She looks down then back up.

“Getting out of your moms way.” I touch her cheek and smile.
