Needless to say, I wasn’t impressed.

And more so, I was getting upset.

“I think maybe if you’d allow me to…” I started, trying to go around her.

But she stepped to the side, proving she had excellent control in her high heels.

I sighed, then pulled my phone out and made a call.

That call was picked up almost instantly.

“Are you here?” he asked happily. “Why didn’t you come inside?”

The last part was something that I heard in both real time and on the phone, causing me to look toward a back hallway.

He emerged with his phone tucked between his shoulder and his head, throwing his MC cut over his back.

I pressed the end button and said, rather loudly, “I tried to come inside, but you have a most excellent guard dog.”

Price jerked his head upward, dislodging his phone, and had to bobble it to keep it from hitting the floor.

He ended up being successful and shoved it into his jeans pocket before saying, “Ida, honey. You can always let my girl in. She loves me.”

There was a long pause and then, “This is her?”

Price came up to Ida and threw his arm around her shoulder, pulling her in tight to his chest as he looked at me with a grin.

That grin, for once, didn’t do things to me.

In fact, all it made me want to do was punch him in the throat.

“This is her,” Price confirmed whatever suspicion the woman had. “Sabrina, this is Ida. Ida, this is my wife, Sabrina.”

Ida’s perfectly Botoxed eyebrows lifted a millimeter. “Wife?”

“Wife,” Price confirmed again.

I didn’t disagree with him, even though I wanted to.

“It’s nice to meet you.” Ida held out her hand.

I would shake that hand over my dead body. Even if Price did like her.

That, however, might’ve been the reason that I didn’t want to shake her hand. Because Price liked her. I didn’t like that he liked her. More so, I didn’t like how she’d made me supremely uncomfortable when she’d heard about me, and that I was coming.

Price, realizing that I wasn’t in a good mood, dropped his arm from around Ida.

“Ida is a family friend,” he explained.

I didn’t care one single bit.

In fact, the more I stood there with them so close, the angrier I became.

“Are you ready?” I asked, wanting to leave yesterday.

I didn’t do awkward situations. And I sure the fuck didn’t do jealousy.

I didn’t like it on others, and I certainly didn’t like it on myself.

The burning green monster inside of me was making me want to reach for Skinny-Mini’s throat and squeeze.

Instead of doing just that, I crossed my arms across my chest and fisted my hands under each arm.

Both Ida and Price noticed the move.

“I am,” Price confirmed. “Ida, the place is yours to shut down tonight.”

Ida gave him a mocking salute that made her breasts jiggle.

Something in which Price noticed.

What man—or woman, for that matter—couldn’t?

I turned on my heels and walked out instead of exploring the office like I wanted.

I made it to the passenger side door of Price’s truck and was reaching for the door handle when I felt a big body crowd me close to the door.

I stiffened at the feel of him so close, and nearly reared back my head and slammed it into his chin.

Only, he anticipated the move and caught me around the neck, squeezing until I admitted that I wouldn’t be doing anything anymore.

“Let. Go,” I demanded.

Price crowded me closer, not stopping until I was plastered against him and his truck.

“I don’t know what that was,” he rumbled quietly against my hair. “But Ida is nothing to me. Nothing.”

I gritted my teeth. “She was really mean.”

“Ida is Ida,” he said. “She’s neither nice nor mean. She’s a great office worker, and that’s about all that I care about.”

“You don’t care that she was mean to me?” I asked curiously. “Because there wasn’t a single ounce of nice to her today. And even after you introduced me to her, she still had a disgusted look on her face, letting me know quite clearly that she found me lacking.”

“Baby,” he rested his head on my shoulder. “This won’t be the last time that you’re jealous. There’ll be women that come on to me. I won’t invite, nor encourage them, but let’s be honest. Do you really want a man that other people don’t find attractive?”

I stiffened. “Let’s turn that around. Would you want a woman that other men didn’t find attractive?”

He sighed. “That’s not what I meant.”

“That’s what you said,” I corrected him. “And if you didn’t want me thinking it, you probably shouldn’t have said it.”

“I’m just trying to tell you, despite Ida’s attitude and demeanor, she’s a good office worker that’s a valued member of my team. That’s all. There’s no romantic interest there. Mostly because, if we’re being honest, she’s had the biggest crush on Tide since we were freshmen in high school.”
