“Well…I still say there’s nothing to talk about,” Terra said. But despite herself, she had the strangest feeling of attraction towards the three strange warriors. Like her body wanted to be closer to theirs, regardless of how her mind was telling her it was a bad idea.

No, keep your distance, she warned herself sternly. Once they see you in the light they’ll realize they’ve made a big mistake.

And even if they hadn’t made a mistake, once they saw she was middle aged and curvy, she was sure the three of them would back down and leave her alone. It was hard to tell their age in the dark, but she thought they were all younger than her by at least ten years. Also, every one of them was in incredible shape—they looked like the guys on the dating apps who all said they wanted a woman who “took care of herself.”

“We’ll meet at the G’lix café—it’s right by the main Transport Hub,” Dra’vik said, taking charge of the situation. “And be sure the three of you dress appropriately—humans don’t approve of nudity,” he added.

All this time, Terra had been trying to see their faces in the extremely dim lighting but this statement made her eyes fly downwards. What she saw made her muffle a gasp behind her hand.

All three of the strange Monstrum warriors were nude, she now realized, and all three of them had massive male equipment—equipment which didn’t look like anything she’d ever seen between a human man’s legs, that was for sure.

“Very well,” the red warrior growled. “We will meet you at the G’lix cafe in one standard hour.” He looked intently at Terra. “And there we will claim our Queen.”

Terra had no idea what to say to that, but Iyanna had linked one arm firmly through hers and was already ushering her away.

“Come on,” she muttered to Terra. “Let’s get while the getting’s good, as my Granny would say!”

Terra couldn’t agree with her more. With a final glance over her shoulder, she hurried out of the dark forest as fast as she could.

FIVE

“Don’t fuckin’ understand why humans care so much about covering up,” V’rone muttered as he tried again to adjust the too-tight trousers he was wearing.

His shaft was too large to fit in the middle, so he had to push it down into one leg of the trousers, which felt strange and wrong—much like the concept of clothing itself. On their home planet of Colony Five, everyone went nude all the time—except in the case of inclement weather, of course—which was how it should be.

“The humans have strange ideas about ‘modesty,’” Rive offered helpfully, as he adjusted his own trousers. “They have sexualized their nudity and they feel that going without clothing means they are offering themselves in a sexual way to anyone who sees them.”

“Really? Is that why our Queen was wearing so many coverings?” Tem asked, frowning. The Soul of their colony was already dressed in the same black leather trousers and black leather vest that Rive and V’rone were wearing. It was sort of the unofficial Monstrum warrior uniform, though many of the warriors didn’t wear clothing most of the time in the comfort of the Mother Ship.

“She’s not our Queen yet—not until we claim her,” V’rone pointed out grimly. “Which is why we have to get down to the G’lix café!”

“It was my observation that she does not wish to be claimed by us,” Rive remarked, frowning. “She certainly resisted when we tried to touch her.”

“You think she doesn’t want us?” Tem asked uncertainly. The outer compound lenses of his eyes flipped up in apparent concern, showing eyes that were more human looking and giving him binocular vision instead of the compound vision Colony warriors all had access to.

“She just doesn’t know us yet,” V’rone growled. “But we’ll fix that and then we’ll claim her so we can keep her safe and protect her.”

“But what if she doesn’t want to come live in our domicile with us and let us protect and serve her?” Tem asked, still looking worried. “Gods, we’ve waited so long for her and she’s so beautiful—a Mature Elite! But what if she thinks we’re not good enough for her?”

“I think the odds that a beautiful Mature Elite would not want us are probably well over fifty percent,” Rive remarked, frowning. “After all—she probably has her own life on Earth. A life she might want to return to.”

“Then we’ll go with her,” V’rone growled. “If she really is our Queen, there’s no fuckin’ way we’re leaving her unprotected one minute more!”

“I thought we were living on the Dark Side of the ship so we don’t scare the humans,” Tem objected. “Following our Queen to Earth and living there with her certainly won’t make them less afraid of our kind of Monstrum.”
