“Boys at our school sucked,” I remind her. “Plus, your brothers scared the crap out of all of them,” I say with a laugh.

“They did us favors. Who wants to sleep with someone that is scared off so easily?”

“So true,” I agree.

The truth is I didn’t have a ton of boys trying to get with me. I was always seen as a bit odd. It didn’t help that people knew my grandfather was Preacher McGuire. Even before I’d gone to live with him, they teased me about belonging to a cult, and there had even been a few bets of who could take my virginity. There was this weird challenge of who would nail the preacher's granddaughter first. Anytime a boy showed me any sort of attention, that was always in the back of my mind. Even after high school.

“So you haven’t gone all the way, but you’ve done other things?” Ollie goes back to pushing for details. I might as well spill the beans because she’s going to keep asking until she gets what she’s looking for.

“Not really.” Unless you count me attacking him in bed. I still can’t believe I did that.

I actually thought he would push for more this morning, but he didn’t. He makes comments but never really tries to take things further. I kept waiting today for him to pounce on me in his office. I’d been pretty open to the idea but nothing.

“I joked about saving myself for marriage, and he got pissed off and left his office.”

“Really?” Ollie grabs a soda out of the fridge. “I pressed Jason about Archer.”

“What?!” I’m not actually too surprised. Ollie can be a mama bear when it comes to people she loves. Always trying to look out for their best interest.

“You’re like my sister, and Archer is, well….”

“Yeah, tell me about it. His hotness is bothersome.”

“I get it. They are both so…” She trails off once again. “I don’t want to say out of our league, but they are in this different league. They are rich, established, and own these businesses. These crazy, sexy women want them at these giant parties that happen at their warehouse, and we've been floundering a bit with what we want to do in life. We even had to dig to find sexy clothes to go to one of their parties.”

“Yes, all that,” I agree.

“With that all said, Jason told me Archer is really into you and not messing around. Jason threatened him about you.”

“Really?” I ask, a bit shocked. I don’t really know Jason that well for him to be looking out for me, but it makes me like him even more.

“Jason knows we’re a package deal, and it’s going to make things hard if Archer hurts you and you don’t want to be around him after.”

“I thought about that too. No matter what happens with Archer and me, he's going to be in my life in one way or another. I’ll have to see him at all kinds of family functions.” Ollie nods in agreement.

“Jason told me not to worry. But in my normal fashion, I still pressed for more information.” Of course she did. “He doesn’t take girls back to his room, and Jason has never known him to be with a woman here.”

“So no one-night stands?” I lift a brow.

“He said when they were kids Archer was a bit wilder, trying to piss his dad off, but that all died out once they both enlisted in the Marines. He hasn’t known him to be hooking up with anyone since way back then.”

“Really?” I roll my eyes. It’s almost unbelievable with the way women throw themselves at Archer that he hasn’t been with one of them.

“I said the same, but Jason said all he can tell me is what he’s seen, and there’s been nothing. He also said that they never sleep with club women. It’s actually a bit of a rule they made because of the trouble it’s caused in the past with other members.”

Hope starts to bloom in my chest. “The girls don’t bother you? You being pregnant and all.” Knowing that but still seeing these girls circle these men is going to be tough. Also annoying.

“We talked about that last night. I guess he and Archer both think a lot of stuff needs to change around here. Not only the women and parties but some of the members too. With everything that went down with my kidnapping, those changes are coming sooner rather than later.”

“I still can’t believe that happened.” I get up from my chair, needing to hug my best friend again. I’m almost grateful I didn’t know Ollie was missing until afterward because I don’t know what I would’ve done. The thought of something happening to her is too much for me to even think about.
