“He didn’t ask because I’m knocked up or anything. He already had the ring.” My brain hadn’t gotten far enough to think that yet.
“Seriously. Are you okay? Tell me everything. Please.” I lean up against the counter as she gives me the rundown.
The whole reason we’d gone to the Ravens’ club all those weeks ago was to find Eddie Harris. Also known as Copper. He’d skipped out on his bail that was funded by Hart Bond’s. Ollie wanted to prove that she could do more than paperwork for the family business.
We’d ended up spotting him, and her brothers picked him up. I thought it was all done with. I’d clearly been wrong, and Eddie was out for some payback.
“I need to step out. Can you keep your little ass put?” I spin around at the sound of Archer’s voice.
“Where are you?” Ollie asks.
“Can you stay put?” Archer asks again, his voice cold. I nod. “Don’t make me track you down.”
With that, he leaves me standing there alone in his kitchen.
“Vee? What’s going on?” Ollie asks. I let out a long breath. This time it’s me that has to spill.

“How did it go?” Jason asks, stepping outside of the club. It’s late, and I’m sure his woman is fast asleep. I know he didn’t want to leave her side after how today went down.
I don’t blame him. My woman wasn’t even kidnapped and I’m itching to get back to her. I know I left things like shit. That was not how her first night at my place was supposed to go, but I lost my mind a bit when Jason told me what happened to Ollie.
Ollie and my girl spend so much damn time together. To think that she was snatched up so easily sent a bolt of fear through me. I don’t even want to imagine something like that happening to Savannah. I have no clue how Jason is holding it together so well. He is always the rational one.
“It went fine.” I toss him Wingman’s cut. “He didn’t put up much of a fight. He knew his son was out of line.” Wingman is Copper’s father.
He’s been a patched member of the Ravens MC club since I was in fucking diapers. He’s one of the handful of men still left over from the days when Jason’s father used to run the club. His son Copper has been trying to get a patch for years. It was never going to happen.
The only reason he was ever allowed to be around the club is because of his father. I think Jason once looked at the man like an uncle, and that’s why he let Copper linger around here for so long. I’m still not done with that little shit. He might be in the hands of the police now, but that doesn’t make him out of my reach. There are still some nice perks to my father once being the mayor.
“I could have lost her. Things have to change around this club. I took over because I thought I had to, but I’m not doing it at the risk of my woman getting hurt. She’s pregnant.” He runs his hands through his hair.
“Then we clean up. Most of the crew works for us,” I remind him.
A few work in the mines, but most of the others work security for the crops. Jason’s father didn’t do things the legal way in his day, but then again, growing pot hadn’t been legal back then. I changed all that.
“All right. Thanks for handling this. I can’t leave her side right now.”
“I’m pissed I didn’t get my chance at Copper.”
“I know, but it happened so damn fast. Her dad and brothers showed up. I think I would have killed him if not for them.”
“You better with them now?” I ask, knowing that shit has been bugging the hell out of him. Ollie is all about her family. Them liking Jason makes things a whole lot easier.
“Yeah, that might be the silver lining in all this.”
“All right, I'll call you in the morning,” I tell him. He grabs me, wrapping me in a one-armed hug.
“Thanks.”
“Anytime. You know that,” I say before I head back toward my SUV.
It doesn't take me long to get back to my place. I actually don’t stay here often. I tend to crash at the club, but here I know I get Savannah all to myself. I could tell from the look on her face when I told her I was leaving and to keep her ass put she was not happy with me.
I’m shit at dealing with females. It’s never been something that’s been at the top of my list of things to care about. Getting a girl in my bed was never hard when I was young and didn’t think past the next five minutes. Not that I ever actually took them to a bed. Especially my own.
