The look on her face closed down and she shook her head.

“No, I’m sorry Sev, but I don’t believe that. Not because of you, though—because of me. I don’t belong with anyone. I…I don’t think I ever will.”

“Baby, please…” Sev slid across the couch to take her hand in his. “What makes you say that?” he pleaded. “You’ve closed yourself up in this suite and I’ve been trying to give you some space but now I’m thinking I should never have left you alone.”

“No, that’s all right. I belong alone.” Mia pulled her hand out of his. She was clearly in a bad head space and Sev was aching to make her talk.

“Tell me why you would say that, baby,” he pleaded. “Please, Mia—talk to me.”

She shook her head stubbornly.

“There’s nothing more to say. I think we’re just better off out of each other’s lives.”

Sev tried to fight the frustration building inside him. Damn it—if she would just talk about what was bothering her, he was sure he could help her with it! Instead, she’d decided to lock him out and not say a word.

“So that’s it?” he asked tightly. “You’re just going to decide to end our relationship—our partnership—without even telling me why?”

Mia shook her head again.

“I’m sorry, it’s best this way.” She rose to her feet and pointed at the door. “And now, I think you’d better leave.”

But as she pointed, the bulky bathrobe came untied and even in the dim lighting, Sev could see what she’d been trying to hide.

“Fuck!” he exclaimed, leaning forward to get a better look.

Under the robe, Mia was wearing a thin, gray nightshirt—so thin, in fact, that Sev could easily see the points of her nipples. And over each tight point a large wet spot was spreading.

“Don’t look!” Mia snatched the robe closed but it was too late—Sev had seen what was going on and he wasn’t going anywhere. Also, the last of the artificial air spray was finally fading from the room and finally he was able to see—or rather smell—what else she’d been hiding.

Her scent was hot—the scent of a female going into heat. It reminded him of the night he’d put her on the milking pad and fucked her to help the nectar flow. And yet, despite her obvious desire, she looked completely miserable.

“The nectar,” he said thickly. “It came back. How long ago?”

She shifted from foot to foot, looking uncomfortable.

“Two days,” she said in a small voice.

“Two days?” Sev exclaimed. “And you thought you could just manage it on your own? Mia, you know how dangerous that is—they told us in the Dome what could happen if your breasts get too full!”

“I got a pump,” she said defensively. “I’ve been dealing with it.”

“Clearly not well enough. You’re putting yourself in danger, trying to take this on without my help and you damn well know it!” Sev could feel the frustration rising in him. Why was his partner so set on shutting him out?

Mia lifted her chin defiantly.

“I did try to get help—I went to the Med Center and got tested when it first started,” she said.

“You did? And?” Sev raised his eyebrows. “What was the result?”

“Well…” She looked away. “They don’t know for sure yet but they think the effects of the Nutrient Crème might be…might be permanent.”

“Meaning your breasts are going to keep filling with nectar over and over again, which is why you need my help,” Sev growled.

Mia got that defiant look in her eyes again.

“I don’t need your help—I don’t need anyone’s help!” she exclaimed. “I’ve got this handled, Sev so back off!”

“Clearly you don’t—look how swollen your breasts are!” Sev pointed to her chest, which she was unsuccessfully trying to hide with her arms and the robe. “This is wrong, Mia—it’s dangerous. And I’m not going to let you hurt yourself anymore.”

The Dom inside him—the part that had been awakened by their stay in the PPP Dome and the things they had done there—swelled with righteous anger. It whispered to Sev that his sub was misbehaving—engaging in dangerous, self-harming behavior. Behavior that had to stop now.

Sev didn’t even try to fight it. Pointing to his lap he gave Mia a stern look and said, “Over my knee.”

“What?” Mia took a step back from him, her eyes going wide. Clearly she hadn’t expected this.

“You heard me.” Sev pointed to his lap again. “I said, over my knee. Now, Mia!” he added in such a stern voice he knew she wouldn’t dare to disobey.

Unwillingly, as though tugged by some invisible chain, Mia approached him.

“You wouldn’t dare,” she whispered. “We’re not in the PPP Dome anymore, Sev.”

“Call me ‘Sir.’ And it doesn’t matter where we are, you can’t mistreat yourself like this.” Sev growled. “Now take off that ridiculous robe and get your ass over my knee!”

“You can’t do this to me—I…I’m a grown woman,” she protested. But there was a breathless quality to her voice and Sev could hear her heart pounding as she slipped off the robe and let it fall to the floor.
