Nerves overwhelm my body as my gaze falls to the big wolves who seem to overtake the whole room. There’s no reason for the nerves, but for some reason, I can’t make them fade away. “What’s wrong with them?” I ask Roman, not knowing much about the animal in his lap, but knowing that something isn’t right for them to not even stir when we walked in.

“Tranquilized,” Roman mutters, his hand knotting into the fur on the big wolf’s head. “It’s the only way my father was able to get in without detection. They like to hunt along the perimeter of the property at night so no one gets in unless they come prepared. They’ll be fine. It’s not the first time. They’ll come around soon, but when they do, they’ll be out for blood.”

I swallow hard, my gaze shifting up from the wolf to meet Roman’s. “What are their names?” I ask, knowing that on some level I should fear these animals, but when they’re with their masters, they’re obedient and kind, perfectly controlled.

“Names?” he questions, his brows furrowed in confusion. “They don’t have any. They’re weapons, not pets.”

I roll my eyes and shake my head. “You’re kidding me, right?” I laugh, pointing toward the beast who’s tongue lolls by his thigh. “That right there is as pettish as a pet can get. They have food bowls in the kitchen, water in nearly every room. You let them out to run in the fields and I bet you even snuggle them at night. Look at the way you’re scratching his head. They’re pets. You care for them. Are you so far gone that you don’t see that?”

“You have no fucking idea what you’re talking about.”

“You know I do and that scares the shit out of you.”

Levi stops pacing and leans onto the backrest of the big couch. “Can we cut the bullshit? You tried to run. You did exactly what we asked you not to do. Rule number one. How are we supposed to keep you safe like that?”

“Safe?” I question, meeting his stare and immediately squirming under his gaze, the memory of what happened on the roof still so fresh. “This is your version of keeping me safe? That doesn’t even make sense. YOU KIDNAPPED ME. I’m not here to hang out and get to know you. You’re keeping me here against my will, forcing me to do and witness things that are seriously fucking with my head, and then had the brilliant idea to expose me to your father. I’ve never been so unsafe in my life.”

“You tried to run,” Levi repeats, his hard, lethal stare boring into mine.

“Not from you,” I argue, holding onto his stare and refusing to break. “I thought there was no way you guys would have survived in there. You were outnumbered, and all I could picture was you three lying in a pool of blood next to Abigail and me being next. I had no choice but to run. It was the only way I could save myself.”

Marcus stands. “You honestly thought we would have let that happen to you after everything we’ve done for you?”

“Okay,” I laugh, pressing a hand to my temple as a brutal headache quickly starts to set in. “What aren’t you getting? I thought you were as good as dead. How would you have saved me if you were bleeding out on the ground? I had no choice but to try and save myself.”

Roman scoffs. “By throwing yourself off the fucking roof into an empty concrete pit below? Sounds like a fucking amazing idea to me.”

I shoot a nasty glare toward him. “I didn’t know the pool was empty,” I throw back at him. “What idiots have an empty concrete pit in their backyard? How was I supposed to know? It was pitch-black out there. I could barely see.”

“Here’s an idea,” Marcus scoffs. “If you can’t fucking see what’s below you, don’t attempt jumping into it.”

“Fuck you,” I snap, narrowing my hard stare. I can’t handle his bad mood right now. So what if I let his brother fuck me on the roof? It’s not my fault that he decided to stand there and watch. My body is mine to give to whoever I want, and if he wants to climb out onto the roof to watch, then that’s all on him. “You’re a little bitch when you’re jealous.”

“Jealous?” he roars, striding toward me and towering over me with that menacing stare of his. “I don’t get fucking jealous.”

“Really? You’re not standing here, biting your tongue over the fact that Levi fucked me when I told you that I was all yours? That I wouldn’t let Roman or Levi touch me, but I shared my body with him. I let him take whatever the fuck he wanted from me and damn it, I plan on doing it again and again. He made my body come alive and the way my pussy squeezed his cock when I came was fucking incredible. You’re telling me that doesn’t grind on your nerves?”
