I wanted to be mad at him, but I was only half joking with him when I asked, “Is this how this is going to be? You’re going to tell me what I can and can’t do?”

He helped me into the car because he wouldn’t let me ride on the back of his bike to the appointment. He squatted down on his legs next to me. “Honey, look. You’ve taken care of Junior the last four months. Now it’s my turn to take care of the both of you.”

“It’s not your—”

I almost say job but the fierce look he gives me stops me.

“So help me if you tell me it’s not my job to take care of my future wife and son, I’m going to spank that ass when we get home.”

I look at him in surprise. “Future wife?”

He nods with a big goofy grin on his face. “Definitely. You’re going to be wearing my ring soon so everyone knows you’re taken.”

I rub my hand on my belly. “Yeah, because this definitely doesn’t give off taken vibes.”

He leans in and nuzzles his nose against my neck. “We have a lot to do today if you’re up to it.”

I lean back in the seat as he closes my door and walks around to get in the driver’s side. I turn to him. “What do we have to do because I was hoping to stay in bed all day and hopefully talk you into joining me.”

He smiles as he reaches across the console for my hand. “That sounds perfect, and I promise we’ll do that later, but right now, we have a few houses to look at. I put a call into Walker – he’s the one that owns the compound across from the clubhouse. Anyway, he has some empty houses he’s renting out, so we’re going to find a house. Maybe do some shopping and get settled.”

I sit farther up in my seat. “We don’t have to move. We can live at the clubhouse...”

He squeezes my hand. “We’re not raising our son at the clubhouse, honey. Plus, I want you all to myself.”

I lean back and look out the window as he starts to drive. Everything is changing, and it’s happening fast. I can’t stop my insecure thoughts from forming.

He tugs my hand over to his thigh and holds it there. “What are you thinking? I swear I can hear your wheels turning. Talk to me.”

I turn in my seat and look at him worriedly. “Are you sure about this?”

He takes his eyes off the road to look at me, and something he sees in my face has him pulling to the side of the road. “Are you having second thoughts about me? About us?”

“Me?” I ask him with a raised voice. “Absolutely not.”

He nods and lets out a breath. “So you’re wondering if I’m sure about wanting to marry you? Move into a house with you? Have a baby with you? Go to sleep and wake up next to you every day for the rest of my life?”

I start to feel silly, and I bite my lower lip. “Yeah, I guess that’s what I was asking.”

He leans toward me. “Absolutely, honey. I want all of that... with you.”

I put my arms around his neck. “I love you, Diesel.”

He cups my face with his hands. “I love you too, sweet girl.”
