I roughly cleared my throat, my dick half-hard. “Always,” I promised, my voice sounding like I’d just swallowed gravel.

He pecked my lips one more time, and then he and Hawke left the room.

CHAPTER 15

Capone

Ieyed April as I half-assed listened to Malorie drone on and on about something I didn’t give two fucks about. For someone who was supposedly shaken from what she’d gone through, she sure as fuck talked a lot. The only reason I or one of the guys hadn’t told her to shut the fuck up was because we were hoping her rambling would get the best of her and she would let something slip.

Like how she really found us. Because I knew she wasn’t from around here, despite what she said. And we weren’t known for allowing outsiders in. The only reason she was still here was because of April’s conscience. But Tank had let me know she thought something was off, which only put me on guard more.

April was too damn sweet for her own good, and I wished she trusted her gut more. But since we now knew we had a problem, I wasn’t letting Malorie out of here until we got to the bottom of this shit and the threat was eliminated.

And the only way Malorie was getting out of here was in a fucking body bag.

Malorie placed her hand on my arm and leaned into me so her breasts pressed against my side. I grimaced and looked down at her, nothing but disgust showing on my features. Something clanged over in the kitchen area, and Hawke snickered. “Oh, boy,” he whispered.

I barely had time to look up before April’s manicured fingers were wrapping around Malorie’s wrist and flinging her hand off of me. Malorie reared back in surprise, and I quickly gripped April’s hips, settling her on my lap before she could do something I knew her sweet soul would later regret.

She was too good for violence.

“Sheathe the claws, baby girl,” I rumbled in her ear before nipping at the skin of her neck.

“I didn’t mean—didn’t know—” Malorie stammered.

“We are all with April,” Tank calmly informed Malorie as he came to my side and reached up to run his fingers through April’s hair. He tugged her head back by a fistful of her dark strands and pressed a quick, hard kiss to her lips before looking back at Malorie. “If she feels threatened, she will lash out.”

It went without saying that all seven of us would back her up one hundred percent, too.

Malorie’s eyes were wide with a mixture of shock and wonder. I slid my hand under April’s shirt, splaying my palm over her belly. Tank released her hair, and I spun April around, making her squeak in surprise, her hands coming up to clutch my shoulders, her thighs squeezing my hips.

“Hawke, you’re with me,” I ordered, not looking away from the jealous little vixen straddling my lap. Hawke grunted in answer as our woman’s eyes went all hazy. “Someone finish breakfast and bring us up three plates when it’s done.”

I stood from the chair I’d been sitting in with April wrapped around me, her face buried in the crook of my neck. Her nails dug into the back of my neck, but I welcomed the pain.

Someone had encroached upon her territory, and she needed reassurance. I understood it. If someone had touched her like that, I’d probably have fucked her right in front of them.

I could feel Hawke’s presence at my back, and I shivered when he trailed his fingers down my spine as I made my way up the stairs.

“Playing a dangerous game, boy,” I warned him, but I had a feeling he was trying to get a rise out of me. It was what he did because he knew I wouldn’t hold back on him. If I wanted him to hurt, I’d make him hurt. And the way he craved pain…

My cock throbbed, aching to bury itself inside of him.

Hawke hummed. “I’ve got a thing for danger, Capone.” Fuck, did he ever. And I loved indulging him—safely. Always safely. Because I never wanted to truly hurt him.

“Don’t tease him, Daddy,” April said, turning her head so she could look at Hawke with her chin resting on my shoulder. I tightened my grip on her in response, a shiver rolling down my spine.

Fuck, I loved hearing her call him Daddy. It fucking did something to me. Hawke earning the title of Daddy was something…special. Something worth cherishing. Hawke said he understood the depth of the gift she’d given him; I truly hoped he did. It was the best fucking title he could have, honestly.

I wasn’t a Daddy by any means, but even I envied him just the tiniest bit for earning something so beautiful and precious.

Hawke chuckled. “Teasing him is half the fun, doll.”
