Dane sat on the edge of the bed and rubbed a hand over his face. “Yeah, we must have. I guess I needed it.” He glanced over at me before turning back again. I could see the walls building up again between us, like he didn’t know what to say or do and was pulling away. Where usually I wouldn’t give a shit, it wasn’t something I was willing to let happen with him.

“Nope. None of that.” I crawled over and straddled his lap.

“Comfortable?”

“Yes. And you’re hard, so I don’t think you care much.”

He smiled, letting his hands rest on my waist. “Listen…Jesse…I’m in a weird place right now, and this… I can’t make promises. Not yet.”

“Oh, I’m sorry, did I ask you for any?” I liked Dane too, but it wasn’t like I was in love with the guy.

“No, I guess you didn’t.”

“Let’s just have fun—no commitments, and then when we decide we don’t want to have fun anymore, we stop.”

He drew circles on my hip with his finger, and it felt…really good. Again, sweet. “Okay, but the thing is, I’m not really the kind of guy who has fun with a guy if he’s having fun with another guy.”

“Wow, can you say that three times fast?”

Dane chuckled, and I said something I totally didn’t expect to say and which made me worry there might be something wrong with me. “So we don’t have fun with other people until we’re done having fun with each other.”

“You would agree to that?” His brows drew together in an adorable way.

“As long as you continue to satisfy me.” I winked.

He seemed to hesitate a moment as he ran his hands up and down my back, making me tremble, then said, “Okay.”

“Okay.”

“Now, I have to take a leak, and I hear someone in the living room. I’m assuming your roommate is home, and our clothes are in the hallway.”

Yeah, totally didn’t think he would have a hard time satisfying me. I grinned. “I’ll take care of that.” I got off him, grabbed a pair of sweats, tugged them on, and slipped out the door. Seth was in the living room, and he poked his head around the corner at me.

“Looks like you had a good time.” He smiled.

“I did. Dane is here.”

“Dane from work Dane?” he asked, and I nodded. “Wow…cool. I ordered a bunch of Chinese food for dinner. It should be here any minute if you guys wanna eat.”

“I’ll ask him.” I had a feeling Dane might be a little weird about meeting Seth, but I hoped he wasn’t. I sneaked back into the room and tossed his clothes at him. “So…Seth ordered Chinese. He always orders a shit ton of food, like we’re starving or something. He invited us to eat with him, and I’m sure you’re famished after an afternoon with me.”

“You are exhausting,” he teased as he pulled on his shirt, then went for his underwear.

“Eat with us, Captain Cranky Pants.”

Dane looked over at me, did that crinkly forehead, thinking-too-hard thing he did before answering, “I could eat. Bathroom, though?”

He finished getting dressed, and I showed him to the bathroom. Seth was getting the food from the delivery guy when I got back into the living room. I helped him set it on the table, a little nervous that Dane and Seth were actually going to meet and talk to each other. Honestly, I could see Dane with someone like Seth. They both tended to keep to themselves, and I was sure Seth wouldn’t remind him of his ex like I did.

Seth grabbed his cap and put it on backward like he so often did, right before I heard the bathroom door open. Dane came out, and I signaled him down the hall to come meet us.

“Dane, this is Seth. Seth, this is Dane,” I introduced them.

“Hey. It’s nice to meet you.” Dane held out his hand, and that easily, Seth blushed.

“Hi. I’ve, um…heard a lot about you.”

“You too,” Dane told him.

“Sit. I’ll grab plates and silverware,” I told them, and they both took a seat at the table.

“Are you sure I can’t help you?” Dane asked, and I shook my head.

“Nah, I can handle it.”

I put everything on the table, then grabbed sodas for all of us from the fridge. “Oh my God, you got me pepper beef. I love you.”

“Um, do I ever get Chinese without getting that for you? And I got that gross sauce you like.” Seth began scooping food on my plate. Dane was watching us with interest, so I gave him a smile. The last thing I wanted was for him to think something was going on with Seth and me.

“What do you like? We have pepper beef, orange chicken, pork fried rice, and those yummy noodles.”

“Well, yummy noodles, of course,” Dane joked. Once our plates were piled high with food, we dug in.
