His groin slapped against me. We were sweaty and breathing heavily. My cock was aching and leaking as I rode out the pleasure and pain he was unleashing on my ass.

“Fuck yes. I love it. Keep going.”

There was no way I was going to last long. I spat in my hand and wrapped it around my cock. I began jerking myself off as Dane leaned over me again, his teeth teasing my neck, then biting into me. That simply, my orgasm rolled through me. No, rolled wasn’t a strong enough word—it barreled into me, devastating me in the best way. I cried out as I shot my load on the boxes, and then Dane tensed behind me, his hold on my hips tightening as he cried out in his own orgasm.

We stood there a minute, just breathing and not talking, before Dane pulled out. “Fuck,” he gritted out.

“Regretting it already? You’re so predictable. It was fun. We got off. Why are you mad about that?”

“We don’t even like each other!” He pulled the condom off and tied it, then tossed it into a trash can. “And I just fucked you at work in the goddamned storage room.”

“So?” I pulled my clothes up, hating that I was sweaty and come-y. “Gross. I need a shower. But that was hot. You should put your frustrations to work that way instead.”

Dane rolled his eyes and reached for the door handle. He tugged it…then tugged again.

Oh fuck. He was so going to kill me.

“Oh, hey. This is sort of funny. It’s like we’re in a rom-com.”

“Are you kidding right now? This isn’t funny! Someone will have to let us out, and it’ll be obvious what we just did in here!”

He ran a hand through his hair and paced, making guilt twist inside me.

“I need this job,” Dane added.

And I didn’t? “I do as well. We’ll be fine. Chet isn’t going to fire us. I’ll call Sky. He’s still here.”

“Then he’ll know what we did in here.”

“Um…so? They have a bet going on when we’d fuck anyway. Would you rather be stuck in here with me?”

He frowned.

“That’s what I thought.”

I texted Skylar, and a couple of minutes later the door opened. He looked at me, at Dane, at the come on the boxes, and grinned. “Next time, invite me!”

Dane grabbed the trash bag from the can and jerked it out. “There won’t be a next time,” he gritted, then walked past Skylar and away.

“Apparently even orgasms don’t chill him out,” Sky said.

“Right? But he’s a really good fuck.”

“The most intense ones always are,” Sky replied.

And as much as I didn’t like Dane, I was pretty sure he was wrong. We were so doing that again.

I helped Hailey into the orange plastic tunnel in the play section at the local fast-food restaurant, where I was meeting my high school friend, Craig, whose son, Logan, was around the same age as Hailey. He was running late, but we tried to get the kids together every few weeks while we caught up on life. He’d been married for a couple of years, and they’d decided to adopt right away. It was hard enough trying to keep in touch, so this worked perfectly for us.

I made my way back to our food—Hailey was too excited to eat more than a couple of bites of her chicken nuggets—making sure to keep an eye on her.

I waved Craig over when they arrived, and I helped the little guy out of his shoes while his dad went to the counter to order them lunch. The two preschoolers were always excited to see each other, and I had to shush Hailey when she squealed so loudly, she frightened one of the babies as she ran over to hug her friend.

As the two of them crawled into the tunnel, I headed back over to Craig, who was unwrapping Logan’s plain burger at the table. I sat down and shoveled a couple of fries in my mouth as we both kept watch and touched base.

“If you ever have kids of your own, this will be old hat to you,” Craig said as we fist-bumped.

“Tell me about it,” I muttered as I spotted Hailey coming out of the slide with a huge smile on her face.

When I motioned them over, Hailey sat down to eat more of her nuggets and gulp down her juice because apparently, crawling through a plastic jungle gym was hard work. Logan squirmed in his chair as Craig encouraged him to take a few bites before he could go back and play.

“So, how’s life?” I asked over Hailey’s messy curls.

“We’re all good,” he replied, then sighed. “Been busy with work, and Danny is traveling a lot, so I’ve been playing the single-parent game for a few days.”

I thought of my sister, Bree, and her struggles as a mostly single parent because of Mark being on the road so much. Parenting was tough, period, and not having a partner to help with the everyday minutiae was doubly hard. But Craig had a strong relationship with his partner, Danny—at least it sounded that way to me—so this was just everyday griping.
