“Do you know this guy?”

“No, thankfully. Never seen him before or since, but he came to me sure of what I could do. With the hacking stuff, I mean.” That part still baffles me, and that increases my suspicion all over again. “Who are you, and how did you get in here?”

How the fuck is this my life? I’m a simple girl from the wrong side of the proverbial tracks. My mom works with elementary school kids, and the loser she’s dating now isn’t a loser, just a pastor. And where the fuck is he right now? He’s been gone for days when he should be here protecting us. Well, at least protecting me from guys like this.

“Your front door was unlocked,” the ginger says with a shrug. “Even if it wasn’t, we would have found a way inside.”

“Just fucking dandy,” I growl and push to the edge of the bed, which brings me eye to eye with the dark-haired devil.

“If you’re gonna kill me, just get it over with. I’d rather not get dressed to go to another failed interview if I’m just gonna die.”

His full, pink lips twitch. “We’re not going to kill you.”

“Are you sure?”

He nods, and the other one pipes in. “Do you want us to kill you?”

“Obviously not, but I didn’t want that other asshole to put a blade to my throat, yet he did it anyway, so anything is possible.”

“Anything about him you can tell us?” the hot dark dude asks politely, which isn’t really my thing, but for him, it could totally be my thing.

“Let’s see. He was rude as fuck, obviously. I don’t remember much about his face, but the blade was long and silver, leather and chrome handle, serrated on one side with one of those hooks at the tip.”

That blade is something I’ll never forget. Hell, I might just want one for myself.

“Oh, and he was wearing leather vests like yours, only his said Iron Kings. He rode a bike with one of those old-timey brain bucket helmets, and he was a dick. Anything else?”

“Nope, that’s what we want to know.”

“Hang on,” the other one says. “Do you know any Iron Kings?”

“No. If I do, they don’t advertise it like you guys, so I’m sticking with no.”

“The name Hector ringing any bells?”

I shake my head. “No. I don’t know any Hector. Are you Hector?”

The darker one smiles, and holy shit, my belly clenches. I hope I don’t wet my panties with him standing so close.

“I’m not Hector. I’m Preacher, and he’s Coop.”

I sigh and roll my eyes. “Not another fucking Preacher,” I growl, still wondering where in the hell Mom’s boyfriend is.

Both men sigh at the same time, almost as if they planned it.

“Thanks for the info, Gia.”

The guy, Preacher, says my name smooth like honey and rich like the expensive booze I had one time trying to be a sugar baby. The booze was the most memorable part of that short-lived career.

“Yeah, no problem. Thanks for not killing me.”

They both laugh. “Funny,” the man named Coop says with a playful smile.

“Lock your doors,” Preacher tells me seriously. “You never know who can get in.”

“Nothin’ in here to steal anyway.” I shrug and look around the room at the general lack of shit to steal.

“Nothing but your life,” he shoots back and follows his friend out of my room.

I hear their heavy footsteps descend the stairs, and then the front door opens and closes. As soon as their motorcycles become a low, distant roar, I pick up the phone and call my bestie.

“Ro, you are never going to believe what just happened!”

Chapter Six

Preacher

Coop and I arrive back at the clubhouse, and I can’t stop thinking about that hacker girl.

He nudges me with his elbow as we walk across the parking lot. “So, what’d you think of Gia?”

I shrug. “She was all right, I guess. Smart girl.”

He grins at me. “You like her.”

“Shut up, Coop. I don’t even know her.”

Gia. That’s a beautiful name for a beautiful woman with blue hair and light brown eyes mixed with honey. And those curves. Lord, help me, but it took everything within me not to let my eyes slip down to her boobs. Even the tattoos on her arms, back, and chest couldn’t detract from her beauty.

“Stop drooling over that hacker,” Coop smiles and smacks my arm.

“I don’t drool,” I insist. “I just admire beautiful women.”

“Uh-huh,” he says, amused. “And you just happen to think this one is beautiful?”

I shrug. “She’s all right, I guess.”

He laughs. “You are so full of shit, Preacher. You practically had a boner for her the whole time. I saw you.” Coop’s eyes go wide and dreamy, but they look goofy. “Shit, man, be careful.”

“Nothing to be careful about. We questioned her, and we’re done.”

Coop shakes his head and pulls open the door to the clubhouse where Ace, Shades, and Dix are waiting.
