Ewan’s eyes widened and his frown melted away. “Wait… what? You like me? You want more?”

Dev nodded, feeling pathetic and needy. All his layers were stripped away, and he’d never felt so vulnerable, like a snail without a shell. He clenched his fists, his nails biting into his palms as he waited for Ewan to apologise again and leave him in peace to have a meltdown.

But instead, Ewan took a step towards him, one hand outstretched. “Dev.” His voice was choked. “I like you too. That’s what this is about. I didn’t want to do this anymore because I thought it didn’t mean anything to you. But if you feel the same….” He’d closed the gap between them now and he took Dev’s hand, uncurling his fist and lacing their fingers together. “Well. That changes everything.”

Dev’s brain replayed Ewan’s words, afraid of the hope that flared, unwilling to believe them. But there was no other way they could be interpreted. “It does?”

“I hope so.” Ewan tugged him closer, and Dev went willingly. “What do you want from me, Dev? In an ideal world, what would we be to each other?”

That was an easy question for Dev to answer. “Boyfriends.”

Ewan’s face split into a smile that made Dev’s knees weak. “I’d like that too.”

“You’re sure?” Dev could hardly believe it.

“One hundred percent. Do you want me to put it in writing?”

Dev laughed. “I don’t think I need that. A gentleman’s agreement is fine with me.”

“Sealed with a kiss?” Ewan suggested.

“Definitely.” Dev reached for him, pressing their lips together and wrapping his arms around Ewan until there was no space left between them.

They kissed until they were hard and breathless, and then Dev pulled Ewan down onto the bed and they kissed some more.

Ewan broke away to ask. “Want to seal it with a hand job as well?”

Dev laughed. “Hell yes.” Too impatient to undress, they got their cocks out and jerked each other off, panting into each other’s mouths and making soft sounds of pleasure and encouragement. Ewan came first, moaning and shuddering, and Dev followed soon after. They carried on kissing, slower now, until finally they separated to grin at each other, fucked out and high on happy hormones.

Ewan licked Dev’s come off his fingers, so Dev tried to do the same with Ewan’s. He grimaced a little. “It’s nicer when it’s warm.”

Ewan laughed and passed him a tissue instead.

“So, about Friday,” Dev said when they’d put their dicks away and were lying cuddled up on top of the duvet. “Are we back on for that now?”

“What? You mean you want me to take your butt virginity?” Ewan gave a put-upon sigh and rolled his eyes. “God. You’re going to be such a demanding boyfriend, aren’t you?”

“ If you don’t want to do it, I’m sure I could find someone to help me out on Grindr….”

“Don’t you dare! This is all mine.” He squeezed Dev’s arse, then suddenly looked uncertain. “Well… I hope it is? Do you wanna be exclusive?”

“Yes.”

“Phew. In that case I suppose it’s my duty to fuck you.” He skimmed his hand over Dev’s arse, teasing and sending a delicious shiver up Dev’s spine.

“Do I have to wait until Friday?” Dev asked hopefully.

“Yes.” Ewan sighed. “I have an essay due in on Friday morning, so I’m going to have to go home soon to work on it. I’ll be busy with that tomorrow night too. But on Friday, I’m all yours.”

“Okay.” Dev’s mind ticked over with possibilities. He wanted to make Friday special. Their relationship had all been back to front so far. This seemed like an ideal opportunity to start over.

“Right.” Ewan pressed a kiss to Dev’s cheek before pulling away and sitting on the edge of the bed to put his shoes back on. “I’m really sorry I can’t stay.”

Dev sat beside him and ran his hand down the curve of Ewan’s spine. “Me too. I’ll text you about Friday, where and when?”

“Sure.”

“And you’d better reply this time,” Dev said, a flare of remembered hurt at Ewan ignoring him.

“Yeah. I’m so sorry.” Ewan turned and pressed a fierce, determined kiss to Dev’s lips. “I’m sorry I hurt you. I was just freaking out when I realised how much I cared… and I didn’t think you felt the same.”

“I know.”

“I was an idiot.”

“We both were.”

Ewan grinned. “That’s why we’re perfect for each other.” He kissed Dev again, deeper this time, and then groaned as he reluctantly pulled away. “Okay. This essay isn’t going to write itself.”

He got up, and Dev followed him downstairs to see him out. One final kiss on the doorstep, and then Ewan was gone and Dev was left, missing him already but with a huge smile on his face.

He walked into the living room. The TV was off now, and books and papers lay scattered on the coffee table, evidence of studying. But Jez was sitting in Mac’s lap, snogging him like they were about to get down to it on the sofa.
