“Tell me what?” I practically seethe stepping forward. “Are you two pulling some sort of practical joke?” Instead of letting them answer, I place my palms on the island counter and snip. “I am not amused.”

“Our Fated Mate mark is a physical tether to you,” Dae casually explains as she turns over her wrist. “If we touch it while thinking about you, it’s like we’re actually touching you.” She gently caresses the mark along her dragon’s spine, an action that has my baby brother shutting his eyes and groaning. “And if we’re feeling…erotically unfulfilled-”

“Medical mumbo bullshit for horny,” Ana needlessly clarifies.

“-during the stroking, you then feel that desire.”

Dae drops her finger which prompts Z to shoot his stare to me. “It’s some torturous shit.”

“Pleasing me is torture?” his Fated Mate instantly teases.

“No, no, no,” he speedily insists, head shaking rapidly, eyes softening her direction. “I love that part. I love pleasing you, Little Tails, but I hate feeling like my skin is on fucking fire.”

“Or like you’re being dipped in a fucking volcano,” A.D. grumbles despite his full mouth.

“You’re telling me that I feel like I’m burning hotter than fucking thermite because my Fated Mate needs to get off?!”

“Yes,” they reply in an obnoxious tandem.

What in the actual D, Platinum!? Why didn’t you fucking tell me this shit!?

Tried.

When.

Morning!

Is that why you kept repeating mate and need?!

Yes!

Holy fuck! Would it kill you to be a little more descriptive sometimes?!

Irritant.

Fuck you, you’re the irritant!

Mature.

Oh…keep talkin’ shit and see if I let you out before bonding tonight!

An annoyed grunt is the only response he delivers.

“Why don’t you go handle that shit before the budgeting meeting?” A.D. suggests on a chuckle. “That way you’re not trying to go Full Monty in the middle of it, pissing off HR in more ways than one?”

Ana snickers loudly and offers her Fated Mate an impressed head nod. “Nice.”

Rather than linger any longer, I dart out of the area determined to get Cami off at least once prior to the tight schedule ahead.

Post explaining the erotic connection of her Fated Mate mark, mouth banging her up against the door—her favorite place to get them—and a handsy shared shower—thank the Great Ones for a water that never cools unless directed to—the two of us swing by the kitchen once more to grab to go breakfast and coffee. To my surprise, our normal, separate vehicle taking routine, is abandoned without explanation or argument. Cami simply glides into the front seat of my DUV and begins deep throating a banana.

Okay.

She isn’t really deep throating the banana so much as just eating it, but when you’re this level of worked up—even after a claw curling hand job—everything looks like it’s sexually mocking you.

The conversation on the way to the office mainly consists of regurgitating the information Dae presented this morning and coming to an agreement that we will wait until tomorrow to interview—because the word interrogate probably shouldn’t be used for talking to your in-law—the female being held captive. We also decide that once she is cleared from detainment that she’ll need a room in the estate to stay in while reconnecting to her family which prompts my better half to text her father—who she has been actively avoiding—and to call Gene to begin the arrangements, bringing unsuspecting additional joy to his morning.

At DL & Co., our sharing of an office continues for what will be our last day, according to the first email I open. For some beings, working together, dining together, and living together would be too much; however, for me and Platinum, this shit has been fucking paradise. The ability to see her beautiful, dark skinned face blush green, be surrounded by sweet smells of smoked peaches, and hear her hum ballads by some Sleeper group called The Supremes are all things I would rather die than have to give up. Knowing that she’s safe and that no one can threaten her are simply bonuses that keep my dragon side at ease for long stretches. Delaying the progress of her office crosses my mind multiple times, yet ultimately, I cave to the decision to let her resume working elsewhere on Monday.

She won’t resent me if I give her the option for space.

And it is an option.

I make sure to add that line to the email I forward over.

For the first time since the attack, we work on separate projects. It didn’t take much for Frankford to spill everything he knew and had been sent to destroy but pacing ourselves—because Cami and I are doing this as a team—to remove the issues—both physically and on paper—has required strategic timing and execution. All threats except for one have been properly eliminated. The target has essentially disappeared on a “medical emergency”; however, according to Griff’s researching, she’s gone into hiding, most likely under Magitek’s protection. I had him freeze her bank account with “suspicious” activity in hopes of forcing her to come out to grab her paycheck from accounting today. Once we have her, we’ve ended the battle on this front, and the second we get Dai talking, we’ll be so much closer to finishing the war on that one.
