She belonged to him.

Was all his.

Every single part of her.

Pushing some of the hair off her face, he looked into her eyes and saw those brown depths staring right back at him. He loved this woman. Braxton knew that now. It was clear as day to him. He loved her and there was no way he was giving her up. He’d tried to walk away, to leave, to allow someone else to be with her, but it wasn’t going to happen.

Jade was his. She belonged to him, and there was no way he could let her go. Any man who came near her was going to die. No one would replace him.

Holding her hips, he began to rock her up and down his length.

Braxton wasn’t used to wanting anything. All his life, he was used to having things taken from him. When he finally left that fucking farm, without a backward glance, he didn’t possess anything. Had nothing in his life that could be taken from him. Until Jade.

He had plenty of money. Had earned his wealth, but he didn’t buy things with it, nothing of any value. He simply existed from one job to the next. Until he found Jade—his reason for living. She gave him a purpose, and after he took care of business, he was going to spend the rest of his life making her happy. He didn’t want to ever see her sad.

“Braxton?” she asked.

“Yeah, baby.”

He held himself still within her.

She cupped his face and looked into his eyes. “I love you.”

Chapter Eleven

Several days later, Braxton sat in the gangster’s home. It had been easy to locate. All it had taken from him was a couple of days watching his whereabouts. He was good at keeping to the shadows, so it was easy for him to go undetected. After observing the little prick for a couple of days, Braxton had grown tired of waiting. Tonight, Michael Grumio was going to die.

Grumio was one of the more successful gangsters working on the streets. He had a range of businesses from women, to drugs, to running guns. He had ties to the local Mafia, Bratva, and even a couple of MCs in his belt.

Braxton wasn’t interested in his business associates. He had worked for several of them over the years, providing the job was right.

I love you.

He didn’t want to think about Jade right now.

All the soldiers that had been patrolling the grounds were dead. He had left the bodies as well. Grumio had gone to a small banquet, dinner for a children’s charity where he was expected to give money. It was all very sweet and charming. People would think he was the kind of man who loved kids. He didn’t love them, not unless they earned him money.

Braxton knew it wouldn’t be long now before his target arrived. He’d snagged an apple from the kitchen, inspected it, and took a bite. It was juicy.

Tapping his fingers on his thigh, he tried to wait patiently. His thoughts kept returning to Jade. She had told him she loved him and he’d not said anything to her, because when he asked her, he wanted to have certain things in place.

Instead, he had continued to fuck and make love to her throughout the night only to be gone in the morning. He hadn’t wanted to leave her, but he had no choice. To enact his plan, he had no choice but to leave her behind. Once this was fixed, he could then go about trying to work on his and Jade’s relationship, if she was ready for that. He took another bite of the apple and chewed.

Braxton sat there waiting for over an hour before the car pulled into the parking lot. It didn’t matter how long he had to wait. He tapped on Grumio’s computer and smiled.

There were two other men with him, and they caught sight of the dead body welcoming them a little too late. He held his gun and knife ready with a clear shot of the office. He shot the first guard who came around the corner in the head. The next one came around, and he was tempted to use his knife, but instead he shot him as well. The knife could be used to handle Grumio.

“I don’t know who you are, but you are making a big mistake,” Grumio said.

Braxton didn’t even entertain the warning with a response. He sat still and finished off the apple, and of course Grumio turned the corner and looked at him.

“Surprise,” Braxton said, and this time he did get to his feet.

“You’re dead.”

“Not quite. I don’t suppose your men showed you a body, or did you just go on their word?” Braxton asked.

Grumio went pale.

He tutted. “You see, that’s why you are a crap leader and why we’re in this position. Never in all my years of dealing with pricks like you have I ever met a lazier dick.”
