I focused on the two left. Amalia and the chick who my chick hated, or the chick I was banging hated.

“So.”

Gabby started crying.

Amalia hauled her in for a hug.

I had no clue what any of this was about.

I sighed. “Shit.”

RAMSAY

We made it to my house an hour later with backpacks, sleeping bags, and pillows in hand. Gem was also with us.

I sprinted upstairs to change into some pants and a tank, keeping a bra on. They were getting the sleeping bags situated when I came back downstairs.

We heated up leftover food, turned on the music, and turned off the lights. My mom brought out a disco ball and placed some LED lights around the room. After that, it was dance party all night long.

She stayed with us until two in the morning. Once she went to bed, a movie was turned on but they wanted to know what happened at the party after they left. I’d already told them when we were dress shopping, but I told them again.

They wanted to know about Scout.

Alred had been to a drag show last night so I wanted to know how that went.

Theresa teased Gem about all her new gamer guy friends.

Alred wanted to know about those guys.

We ended the night gossiping about Kira and her friends

After that, I checked out. I mean, I’d been checked out most of the night, to be honest, but I still loved it. I loved the dancing. I loved the friends. I loved how many times Alred made my mom laugh.

Once they’d all fallen asleep in the living room, I waited until they were all been snoring before I snuck back to my room. It was close to four in the morning.

After using the bathroom, I crawled into my bed.

That was when I reached for my phone.

“Everyone should know a good dad.”

“Maybe you can tell me about yours? I can know a second one.”

That’d been in the back of my mind all night, in replay. So maybe because of that, I texted him.

Me: You awake?

He texted five minutes later.

Scout: Leaving Cohen’s, going home. What’s up?

Me: Want to pick me up?

Two minutes later . . .

Scout: Heading over. I’ll be parked on the street.

That was all I needed. I was up, changing into dark sweats and a black hoodie. With my phone and keys, I tiptoed out the back door.

He wanted to know about my dad.

I wanted to tell him.

That was making me feel so many different things, all things I didn’t want to feel right now.

I went to the street and sat on the curb to wait.

His lights turned onto the street a few minutes later, and he pulled to a stop right in front of me. I got in, and after giving me one hooded look, he headed off.

RAMSAY

I lay on my stomach, and Scout was moving inside me from behind. He sank down, his back arched and his forehead pressing to my shoulder blades as he thrust in all the way, grinding in and going slow.

That was not what I wanted.

I needed to feel only him, only what he could make me feel. Needing to forget, I wanted to explode and then explode again and again and again until my body was so tired that I could only focus on keeping my eyelids open.

Pushing up from the bed, I reached out, shoving him off me. He went willingly, his cock sticking up.

I flipped around and pushed him to his back, then climbed on, my legs going to either side of him. He touched my hips, helping me align myself, and I sank down. This time, a hand to his chest, my eyes closed, I rode him.

It was all me. My pace. My rhythm. The way I wanted to feel him inside.

Feeling the beginning of my release at the base of my spine, a whisper of a touch, a little tingle, I opened my eyes. His hips moved with me, but his eyes weren’t into it. I could tell.

“What’s wrong?”

He reached up, palming my breast, his thumb rubbing over my nipple. “Nothing.” He lifted his hips. “Keep going.”

I went slow. Moving both my hands to his chest, I held myself upright as I rode him. He continued to watch me. This time, he was into it, but I still frowned. “Something’s wrong. I can tell.”

His hand clamped down harder on my hip, and he shook his head. “Nothing. I’m into this, but what’s your issue? I can tell.”

My nostrils flared as I rode him a little harder. “That’s the basis of this, whatever we’re doing. We make each other feel good.”

He sat up, and I gasped as he wrapped a hand around me, holding me in place. “Like I said . . .” His mouth was inches from mine. I sank deeper onto him as he said, “I’m into this, but you’re forcing it. You’ve never forced it.”
