She had a full, curvy figure, long black hair, and large blue eyes. She was also Kindred, the Scion knew, but she had fangs, which was something only males usually possessed. Most intriguing indeed.

He’d been listening to them talk, though they had been unaware of his presence, and what he’d heard was deliciously funny. The little female Peace Keeper and her partner thought they had him! They’d gotten a description of him and they thought they could simply pick him out of a crowd of pilgrims and bring him to his knees.

Little did they know, the Scion had ways of hiding…of disguising himself. He wasn’t constrained by only one form or one face—he could have a thousand forms—a million faces, if he wanted to.

He was here to kill the female Priestesses—they thought they were so grand, so far above males. They must be brought low for the glory of his Sire, the Cruel Father. But now, watching the sway of the female Peace Keeper’s hips in her tight black mesh uniform, he thought he might have to add a name to his list.

Special Agent Sky’lar would never see him coming…

THIRTY-THREE

SKY

It was said that it had taken the Priestesses of Ahh-ohh and their acolytes and servants a thousand years to carve the Shrine into the cliff face and seeing it now, Sky could well believe it.

The cavernous ceiling rose high above them, carved out of the solid stone. The scope of the entry hall alone was so huge it made her feel like an ant that had somehow found its way into a giant’s house. She craned her neck, looking at the walls, which were covered in sacred carvings and brushed with gold dust to make them glimmer in the dim light from the glow globes floating high above them.

“It’s quite a sight,” Torin murmured from behind her, his deep voice echoing in the cavernous space.

“Yes, maybe you can pay attention to the view instead of fighting with the Head Guard,” Sky told him, shooting him a look.

He shrugged, his big shoulders rolling.

“Hey—what do you want me to do? He fucking started it.”

Sky sighed.

“Never mind. Let’s find the dressing area and get into our purification outfits.”

The area wasn’t hard to locate. There was a smaller cave that led off from the main cavern with the words, “Dressing and Lockers” written above it in scrolling Serpentine script. When they stepped inside, Sky saw rows of plain brown metal lockers and a set of wooden shelves, each heaped with white, diaphanous garments. There were small changing booths as well, each one hung with a black curtain for privacy.

“Here we are,” she said, stepping up to the shelves and locating a Large robe for herself and a Triple-Extra-Large robe for Torin. She handed it to him. “Let’s get dressed.”

But getting undressed might be more like it. The robe was made of fine, white mesh that seemed to show more of her skin than the black mesh of her uniform. Also, it refused to completely cover her breasts. It had flowing sleeves and a full train that fell to her heels, but the body of the robe was extremely skimpy in the fabric department.

The top had a V neckline which showed most of her cleavage and fastened just below her breasts. Under the plain silver clip that held the two sides together, the white fabric fanned out in an inverted V which seemed made to frame her naked pussy rather than to cover it. No matter how Sky tugged at it, it flatly refused to give her more coverage.

Finally, she decided she must have the wrong size, though a Large was usually what she wore. She decided to give up and stepped out of her changing booth to look for an Extra-Large on the shelf.

As it turned out, Torin was already out of his changing booth as well and he seemed to have the same problem with his own robe. It fastened at his trim, muscular waist but gaped open, showing his bare chest up top and his long legs and thick shaft below.

“These damn things don’t fit right,” he growled. Then he got a better look at Sky and his golden eyes went wide for a moment before going heavy-lidded. “I see yours doesn’t fit quite right either, Darlin’,” he rumbled.

Sky lifted her head. She was well aware that her assets were on display—the white mesh of the robe barely hid her nipples and her smooth, bare pussy wasn’t covered at all. But the big Kindred had seen her naked before and she was damned if she’d act like she was ashamed of her body.

“It covers less than the Yonnite outfit did,” she said coolly. “But actually, I’m mostly concerned with finding a robe that’s big enough to conceal my blaster.”

“That’s a problem for me, too,” Torin admitted. He was holding his enormous hand-cannon still in its holster, in one hand, as though he didn’t know what to do with it. Clearly it would show through the fine white mesh of the pilgrim robe if he strapped the harness back on.
