“I don’t see why not—the Mother Ship will call us when they have news,” Torin said.

“Good,” Sky said with relief. “So do you have a shower in this thing?”

“Sure do—in the back, across from the sleeping area. But I’m coming with you,” he said firmly.

Sky scowled.

“There’s no need for that—I’m fine.”

“Mistress Mirabella said to keep an eye on you and not leave you alone for a while and I promised her I’d watch you. I keep my promises, Darlin’,” he rumbled.

Sky sighed.

“All right—fine. But no funny business.”

“Wouldn’t dream of it,” Torin said amicably. “I just don’t want you fainting in my shower.”

Sky didn’t dignify that with an answer. She felt much stronger now—though she didn’t like to admit that the reason for that was probably that she had so much of the big Kindred’s blood coursing through her system. Could that have anything to do with the increasing attraction she felt for him?

Sky quickly dismissed the notion. She’d taken blood from Serpentine males for her entire adult life and it had never resulted in the kind of feelings she was having for Torin. This longing to be close to him…this desire to touch him and be touched by him…they were just inexplicable.

She tried to push these thoughts aside as she found the bathing area. The shower was both large and surprisingly roomy for a spacecraft—probably a necessity considering how big Torin was, she thought.

After everything they’d been through that night, it seemed useless to be modest or insist he cover his eyes. Sky contented herself with turning her back to the big Kindred as she stripped off. She made sure not to take off her boots until she was actually in the shower stall and grimaced in distaste at the amount of blood that came out of the one on the leg that had been wounded. Thank goodness she had a change of uniform and a spare pair of boots in her emergency bag.

You know what else you have in that bag, don’t you? whispered a seductive little voice in her head. Sky started to swat it away…then thought again. This sexual tension between her and Torin wasn’t going anywhere. Maybe it was time to do something about it.

She’d been keeping her back to him as she rinsed off her leg and made sure the pinkish water was washed down the drain, but now she turned to face him, fully naked.

The giant Kindred was standing there with his arms crossed over his broad chest, like a man watching for trouble. There was an impassive look on his face but it didn’t last. Sky saw the flash of desire in his golden eyes as he took in her full-frontal display with the water running down her full breasts and dripping from her tight nipples.

“You need something, Darlin’?” he asked, his deep voice slightly hoarse.

“As a matter of fact, I do.” Sky beckoned to him. “Why don’t you join me in the shower?”

His eyebrows shot up in apparent surprise.

“Why? You need help getting clean? I thought we agreed not to do anything ‘intimate’ anymore. You even said ‘no funny business.’”

“Maybe I’ve changed my mind.” Sky gave him a seductive smile. “Come on—join me.”

“Well…if you’re sure.” Torin undressed quickly and, leaving his clothes and boots in a heap on the floor, stepped into the metal and plastiglass shower stall with her. “You want me to wash you…Mistress?” he asked, his low voice a seductive rumble.

“I think I’d rather wash you.” Sky put her hands on his broad, muscular chest and pushed him up against the far wall of the shower stall.

He winced as his bare back made contact with the metal wall.

“That’s fucking cold, Darlin’!”

“Don’t worry—you’ll warm up in a minute.” Sky smiled at him. “Now, where’s the soap dispenser?”

“There’s a sudzer in the corner rack, there. Just get it wet and it makes its own suds.”

Sky looked where he was nodding and found a lumpy orange, sponge-like thing with a coarse texture. She held it under the shower spray and squished it in her hand, which caused a lot of lightly-scented, pale purple bubbles to form on its surface.

“I see…this is nice.” She turned to Torin. “Put your hands behind your back.”

Wordlessly, he obeyed.

Sky liked this. It reminded her of the “role playing” they’d been doing before they went to the Yonnite party. She was used to being in charge in the bedroom, so it felt right—even if her prospective partner was much bigger and stronger that she was, unlike the Serpentine males she’d been with in the past.

Torin could probably break her in half with one hand if he wanted to…but he wouldn’t. He wanted this as much as she did, Sky thought. Which was why this tension between them had to end.

The big Kindred’s golden eyes were fixed on her as she approached him with the foaming sudzer. Sky slowly began washing his big body, starting at his broad shoulders and working her way down his arms and torso. She especially liked washing his abs, which were ridged with muscle. He truly was an impressive specimen of malehood, she thought—and extremely attractive, even if he wasn’t remotely what she was used to.
