As she pulled her hair into a ponytail, my attention shifted and I licked my lips. Goddamn, my wife was hot.

“You’ve already moved on to other things, haven’t you?” she asked, rolling her eyes.

“You just got undressed in front of me,” I replied honestly. “If you were trying to keep my attention, you should’ve kept your clothes on.”

“I’ll remember that for next time,” she said, trying to edge around me.

“Hey now,” I joked, wrapping an arm around her waist as soon as she was within reach. “Where are you going?”

“Back to the living room to zone out with some television,” she replied, giggling when my lips tickled the edge of her ear.

“I think we should zone out in the bedroom,” I murmured, moving my lips down her neck.

“I mean, we could,” she said slowly. “But your lack of imagination is a little disappointing.”

“Hey,” I replied, jerking my head up to meet her eyes. “You’ve never complained about my imagination before.”

“It’s been a problem for a while,” she said mockingly, her lips twitching as she pulled out of my arms. “I just haven’t wanted to hurt your feelings.”

She shrieked as I lunged for her, chasing her out of the bedroom and down the short hallway to the living room. When we got there, she spun around to face me, and we both froze.

“You can run,” I said, smiling. “But you can’t hide.”

“I got you into the living room,” she boasted, her hands on her hips. “Why would I hide?”

I took the last step that separated us and reached around her, grabbing her ass as I lifted her against me. Her legs wrapped around my waist as she laughed, and she braced her arms on my shoulders, our noses just millimeters apart.

“I love you,” I breathed. “I haven’t said that enough.”

“You say it every day,” she whispered back.

“Still not enough.”

After the teasing and the race into the living room, when our lips finally met, the kiss was surprisingly soft.

I let go of her with one hand to brace myself on the arm of the couch, then lowered us down until she was straddling my lap, her legs still around my waist. It wasn’t as smooth as I’d imagined it in my head, but she didn’t complain. She held still until I was seated, and then her hands were all over me. She pulled my T-shirt over my head and scratched down my chest, running her hands lightly over my belly and more firmly up my arms to my shoulders.

“You’re wearing too many clothes,” I murmured, pulling her tank top off. “All of this needs to go.” I unhooked her bra and sighed when her breasts were finally bare.

“They’re not any bigger,” she mused, leaning forward to kiss the notch in my collarbone. “I was actually looking forward to that part.”

“They’re just the right size,” I said, pushing her away so I could take a nipple into my mouth.

I breathed in the scent of her skin and traced the delicate bumps of her spine with my fingertips, my heartbeat racing. I tried to take hold of her hips as she shifted, but let her go as she climbed off me and pushed her shorts and underwear to the floor. She stood there, staring, while I followed her lead, stripping my bottom half.

Then she went to her knees, and the room spun for a second.

Her mouth was warm and wet and pretty much the best thing in the history of the universe. I closed my eyes as I threaded the fingers of one hand through her hair, the other hand gently wrapping around the side of her neck. It felt good. So good, in fact, that I was getting close just a couple of minutes later. I gave the signal, tried to warn her, but she didn’t listen. Then I called her name through my gritted teeth, but she still gave no response beyond a hand that patted my knee softly, as if she was telling me to go ahead. I came in a rush of euphoria and nerves.

“I tried to warn you,” I blurted as she got up and climbed onto my lap.

“I got the warnings,” she muttered, laughter threading through her words. “I was ignoring them.”

“Oh.” I wrapped my arms around her as she laid her head against my shoulder. “It’s your turn,” I murmured, my fingers trailing lightly down her back.

“I’m too tired,” she replied with a sigh. “Can we just cuddle for a while?”

“Of course.” I pulled her tighter against me and stared at the black TV screen in front of me. I didn’t really understand the concept of being too tired for sex, but I knew it wasn’t just an excuse when her breathing evened out and her body relaxed against mine.

I carried her into the bedroom and put her in bed. She barely stirred as I pulled the covers up around her neck and crawled in beside her.
