My mouth drops. That’s what he wrote? On our first date?
He’s even crazier than I thought.
I turn around with my heart pumping, expecting him to take it back, but instead, I gasp when I see him on one knee holding a little purple box.
“What are you—?”
He slowly lifts the lid and unveils a gorgeous diamond ring. My shaking hands fly to my mouth as I stare at him in shock.
“Ashley,” he says in a smooth sexy voice. “Will you marry me?”
Tears stream down my cheeks as I stare at him, not knowing what to do or say. For the millionth time since we’ve been together, this man has completely rocked my world and shaken me to my core.
There’s no question about what’s going to happen next. I’m going to say yes, I’m going to marry this wonderful man, and we’ll spend the rest of our lives together in total bliss.
“I kind of need an answer down here,” he says with a grin.
“Sorry!” I say as I wipe the tears from my eyes. “Yes, I’ll marry you! Of course, I’ll marry you!”
He leaps up, scoops me up in his arms, and spins me around as all of my friends and family cheer from the hallway.
We both turn around in surprise to see them there. My sister Megan, my parents, Justin, and Richard who’s clapping the hardest. He looks so thrilled for me. I’m thrilled that he found his Dylan too.
They all rush over and swallow us up in their loving arms.
“Hold on!” Dylan says with a laugh. “I have to put the ring on.”
They all hold their breaths—me included—as he takes my hand and slides the ring on.
Cheers explode all around me as my big hunky mountain man cups my cheeks and pulls me in for a delicious kiss.
We’re getting married!

Six Months Later…
I can’t get over how beautiful my bride is. My heart aches as I hold her while we dance for the first time as husband and wife.
The band is singing Wouldn’t It Be Nice by The Beach Boys while I hold Ashley like I’m never going to let her go.
“I promised we’d dance to this at our wedding,” I say with a smile. “Remember, on our first date?”
“Of course,” she says with those gorgeous blue eyes shining like little tropical oceans. “How could I forget?”
I’m so happy that all of her friends and family from back home made it out here for our wedding. It’s a long way from New Jersey to Montana, but I think the free accommodations helped. My brother (and best man) Owen was nice enough to let us have the whole lodge free of charge for the long weekend.
It’s a beautiful venue. We got married this afternoon with the stunning mountains as a backdrop. What better place to say our vows than the magical place where we fell in love?
Last month, we closed on an adorable house on the outskirts of town. There are no neighbors in sight and the view of the snow-capped mountains from our porch makes us never want to leave. I could sit out there with my girl forever and not get bored.
So far, living out here has been everything we could hope for. We adore it.
Ashley looks so relaxed and at peace. She finally looks like she’s in the place where she’s supposed to be. She looks so happy.
I keep my eyes locked on my breathtaking bride as the band serenades us and our friends and family ooh and ahh all around the dance floor.
This is the happiest moment of my life.
I swear I say that every day, but then Ashley does something funny or looks at me a certain way or touches me so tenderly and I get a new happiest moment. They’re never-ending with this amazing girl around.
I can’t believe she’s my wife. I can’t believe how lucky I am.
I hold her tight as the song comes to an end.
When it finishes, I lean down and kiss her and the crowd goes wild.
I hope they enjoy the show because it’s all they’re getting.
The real show starts tonight and it’s just going to be the two of us.
We have the spectacular Aspen suite, unlimited free room service courtesy of my brother and his wife, and a giant comfy bed. We’re not leaving for a week.
This marriage is going to start off right!

Twelve Years Later…
“Look, Mommy! A frog!”
My youngest Thomas turns to me with a huge smile on his adorable face. With those dark brown eyes and that beautiful smile, he looks like a miniature version of Dylan.
“Want to get a closer look?” I ask as I turn the kayak and start paddling over to the group of lily pads.
He’s sitting in front with a big excited smile on his face.
These kayaks were a great idea.
I look around the lake and see my family up ahead in their kayaks. Dylan is in the middle of the gorgeous lake surrounded by our three girls, Mackenzie, Daisy, and Lynn. They’re talking his ear off while our oldest, Jack, is paddling along the shore, probably trying to spot an otter again. We saw one last week and it made his day.
