I sigh with a happy smile.

“My little Luna is growing up. It makes me feel old.”

Patty guffaws.

“I know! Plus, she’s starting to run, believe it or not. She’s not fast or anything, but it happens.”

“OMG! I need to see,” I say, scrambling up. “Show me.”

My friend just grins.

“I’ll video chat you next time it happens.”

“Good. Maybe she’ll even run to me when I’m over there.”

Patty coos down at the child at her breast.

“She does love her Aunty Corrie.”

“You mean Tee Cor,” I laugh. “That’s what Luna says.”

My friend jiggles the child in her arms and grins again.

“So, Tee Cor, how have you been? I feel like we haven’t talked in forever.”

I nod.

“It’s only been a couple days. Why, is mommy-hood making you get cabin fever?”

Patty nods.

“Yes, definitely. Tell me what the outside world is like because I rarely ever see it now that I have a baby in my arms.”

I flop back down on the bed again.

“It’s not all that exciting,” I admit. “There are trees and squirrels and school is boring.”

“You’ll be graduating soon enough,” Corrie says. “Then you’ll be a trained physical therapist.”

“I know, it’s just taken forever,” I moan. “But I wish we’d been the same year so we could have walked together across the stage at graduation.”

Patty nods.

“Yeah, I know, but it doesn’t matter. We’re good friends nonetheless, Cor, and that’s something because so many people say it’s impossible to keep your friends after becoming a mom, but we’ve proven them wrong.”

I sigh dramatically again.

“Friends, schmends. If only I could meet a nice boyfriend, then my life would be totally complete. I’d have a degree, I’d be getting hot sex, and I’ll soon have a job. It would be heaven!”

Patty gets a crafty look in her eye.

“Well, I do have a guy I want to introduce you to.”

Immediately, I shake my head.

“No way. No set-ups.”

Patty whines.

“But why? You’d have so much fun and you don’t even know who it is yet!”

I fix her with a look.

“Who is it?”

“Well, actually, it’s with Chase’s brother Cameron. You know he lives in town too, right?”

My jaw drops. “Please tell me you are not talking about the Cameron Hanssen?”

Patty blinks at me.

“Of course I am. Why, how many Cameron Hanssens do you know?”

I start bouncing up and down with excitement.

“You mean, the one who’s a billionaire real estate investor, right? The one that all the ladies want? Chase’s brother?”

She nods.

“Yes, of course Chase’s brother. He’s the only Cameron Hanssen I know. He’s the only Cameron I know, period.”

I nod quickly, but then my shoulders slump.

“I appreciate it, girl, but there’s no way I could go on a date with Cameron. He’s so rich, powerful, and handsome. Not to mention he probably has a dozen women vying for his attentions.”

That makes Patty laugh.

“He does, but let’s just say Cameron’s had some bad luck in that department. I won’t tell you what happened, but his last date was disgusting. Like STD-level disgusting.”

I gasp.

“He doesn’t have an STD now, does he?”

Patty waves one hand at me, jiggling the baby.

“No, no, of course not. But his recent date was next-level bad, which is why I want to set you up with him! He deserves to meet someone nice, and you’re just the woman.”

I stare at her.

“You mean, I’m a step up from STD-lady because I don’t have an STD.”

“Yes,” Patty nods cheerfully. “And because you’re smart, beautiful, and successful, so I don’t see the problem at all. You’ll like Cameron, I promise!”

With that, I throw up my arms, managing to drop the phone like I knew I would. Patty is laughing at me when I get back into position, this time leaning against my headboard to avoid another unfortunate bop on the nose.

“I think it’s really sweet of you to try and help my terrible dating life, but why can’t you try to hook me up with like your dog walker or something? That’s more my level, don’t you think? I mean, let’s face it. Cameron Hanssen is out of my league. He’s a billionaire and I haven’t even finished school.”

“Yeah, but how can I set you up with a dogwalker?” Patty asks reasonably. “We don’t have a dog.”

I fix her with a look.

“You’re missing the point.”

Patty takes over then.

“The point is that my best friend greatly undervalues herself, and I won’t have it. You are plenty good enough for Cameron Hanssen, and you’re going out on this date. It’s happening, and I won’t hear otherwise.”

I fix her with a stern stare. “Are you serious?”

She nods.

“Yes, definitely. I think it’ll be good for you and it’ll definitely be good for him. At the very least, it’s a free meal with a gorgeous man, and maybe you’ll get a little action out of it.”

She wiggles her eyebrows at me to drive that last point home, and I can’t help but burst out laughing because she’s the one in a threesome. If anyone’s getting action, it’s her.
