They nodded like bobblehead dolls, both realizing how awkward it could be. I wasn’t exactly subtle with what turned me on and I liked Leashes & Lace because I didn’t have to hide that part of myself, but this…logically, it could be an interesting opportunity. Right?
When we all just stared at each other as my worries started to grow, Ian finally took a deep breath and charged in. “Okay, I think you should ask Roman what he thinks.”
I loved that the little was the most grown-up person in the room and the one who gave the best advice.
Ian was nodding to himself and giving me his most perfect I know what I’m doing look. “He knows you, and he knows how this would affect you.”
Hmm…Ian was probably right.
“He wouldn’t think it was…weird?” Well, he’d think it was weird but not in a bad way. What was the right way to say good weird?
“No.” Ian answered before I could find a better way to ask my question. “He just proposed to Eli, remember? Anything will look normal compared to their relationship.”
Oh. Good point. I managed not to laugh, though, as I nodded. “You’re probably right.”
Ian’s smirk said he knew he was right.
He was so funny…and smart. I had a plan.
“Okay, I’m going to talk to Roman and probably Eli about this, and then I’ll figure out what to do next.” And now that I had a plan, I could drink.
Yay for slushies.
Lane looked like he could help me with that, so I grabbed his cup and took a sip.
“Hey.” Lane pouted and wiggled his fingers at me which just made me laugh as the stress finally faded away.
Fruity drinks made everything better.
“I need this more than you.” Taking another sip, I gave him a grin. “Besides, you should be interrogating Ian, not fighting with me. I haven’t heard anything about the sexy guy he was chatting up at the party.”
Lane went back to giggling as Ian sighed dramatically and looked like he wanted to be the one to throw himself on the floor. “He’s a sub.”
“Oh, that sucks.” That was worse than Luca being so businesslike.
There might be something wicked and dark under his shell, but being a sub was another problem altogether. Thank God nothing about Luca radiated sub or vanilla. That would’ve killed me…and my erection.
But Ian’s big sub…had he really come off as a sub?
“He didn’t say anything about being a switch either. He just talked about being a pup.” Ian answered my unasked questions, but I still wasn’t sure that felt right. “He’s a friend of Wesley’s… He’s Bishop.”
Oh, Bishop.
Okay, maybe he was a sub? “He looks just as happy and sexy as Wesley said he was.”
Giggling, they nodded and relaxed again as Ian sighed. “Yeah, he was really nice. He mentioned wanting to have lunch or something soon. He’s going to call me tomorrow. So maybe I’ll drag a few other guys along so he can meet more people?”
“You know…” Lane’s voice trailed off softly as he blushed. “I mean, if you have a lunch where it’s just the two of you, it might be more…romantic?”
I couldn’t help myself. I snorted and gave him a dry look. “Coming from the guy who stalked his boyfriend, that’s not what I think you meant to say.”
Lane groaned and shot me a frown as he stole his drink back. “I just made sure I was at the coffee shop when he took lunch. Stalking is walking by his work a thousand times a day or figuring out where he lived and being weird.”
Sure.
“I’m not sure Bishop was looking for romance, though.” Ian jumped in with a goofy look on his face like we were living through a rom-com and the movie was now showing a montage of how sexy the pup looked.
“You never know about that kind of stuff.” But I needed my own drink if we were going to figure out how to make it work. “The right guy just might pop up at a surprise engagement party or a weird business meeting.”
Ian sighed then seemed to push the frustrating thoughts about the sexy probably-a-sub pup to the back of his mind as he stood up. “Come on. You need a drink and we need to hear more about your sexy sewing Dom.”
Lane nodded eagerly letting his dirty side peek out. “I bet he’s very creative.”
As Ian and I laughed, he pouted. “I didn’t mean that.”
Sure he hadn’t.
“Any guy who’s into corsets and wants a living sex doll to pose has to be kinky, right?” Ian looked hopeful, like he was cheering for me to have found a dirty Dom of my very own.
But we both knew my luck didn’t work that way, so I pouted. “Any guy who spends half the night talking to a little and smiling at him like he’s the cutest thing since sliced bread has to be at least a switch, right?”
