I’d do just about anything to let her know I’m in it for the long haul. I swear, she’s had enough foot rubs to last a lifetime. Call me pussy-whipped if you must, but I don’t care. Being able to do this shit for her is more rewarding than any build I’ve ever done. I fucking love her, and if she needs me to scratch her ass because she can’t reach it anymore, then you better fucking believe that I’m going to scratch that fine ass.

Bri’s just over eight months pregnant now, which apparently, with twins means they could come any moment. She’s been nervous and doing everything in her power to try and hide that, but I know her like the back of my hand, she can’t hide shit from me . . . apart from a pregnancy, of course.

She finished work two weeks ago because her body physically can’t handle it anymore, and I can tell how much she misses her students. I don’t doubt that the second these babies pop out of her, she’ll be taking them for a trip to the school to meet the other loves of her life.

The music changes to something with more of a beat, and she really gets into it, moving her fine body and shaking that sexy ass. Watching her move as she stirs a pot of pasta has me growing hard, and I simply can’t wait any longer. She’s my girl and it’s about time I prove it to her.

Striding through the kitchen, I place my phone, wallet, and keys on the counter, keeping my gaze locked on her perfect body. The keys rattle as they land, and I expect her to hear me approaching, but she’s too caught up in the song.

Moving in behind her, my hand slides onto her hip, and I press my body up against her. Bri stiffens at the touch, but quickly relaxes, realizing it’s me and not some axe-wielding murderer. “What are you doing?” she murmurs, continuing to stir the pasta, only now her movements are a lot slower, distracted.

Reaching around her, I take the utensil out of her hand before turning off the stove. Bri turns in my arms and has to take a step back as her belly pushes up against me, and as she looks up at me, I let her see the intention in my eyes.

My hand comes up and wraps around her neck and jaw, tilting her chin up toward me, and she allows it. Like putty in my fucking hands, she leans into my touch, and I move in closer, leaving barely a breath between us.

“I love you, Brianna,” I murmur. Her hand travels up my body and stops at my chest, her fingers splaying over my heart and I realize this is it; she’s finished pushing me away. A tear falls from her eye, and I push my thumb out to catch it, quickly wiping it away. “Don’t cry, baby.”

Bri’s hand fists into my shirt and she gives it a tug, pulling me closer and closing the gap. I rest my forehead against hers and she closes her eyes, soaking up every second of this precious moment. “I love you, too,” she whispers with an open heart.

I can’t hold back anymore. She’s been here for weeks, and I’ve respected the space she needs, but it’s time for her to see that this is where she belongs, wholeheartedly. Without another second of hesitation, I press my lips against hers and kiss her, feeling all my fears slipping away as she melts into me. Bri moves her lips against mine as she brings her hand up and around the back of my neck, holding onto me as though she’ll never let go.

She deepens the kiss, and need rumbles through my chest, but I feel myself pulling back until there’s only the slightest gap between us. Bri’s brows furrow, her green gaze searching mine. “What’s wrong?” she whispers, reluctantly starting to pull away, but I don’t dare let her.

“Nothing,” I smile, giving her all my love and trying to put her at ease. “Do you trust me?”

Understanding dawns in her eyes as a breathtaking smile spreads across her beautiful face. “I do,” she tells me.

Relief surges through me. I could feel her trust beginning to return in the way she was so effortlessly falling back into our old relationship, the way she would beam at me as though she couldn’t stand for me to go to work, the way she was right there when I got home, ready to hear all about my day. But nothing feels better than hearing her confirm that after everything we’ve been through, she’s finally able to trust me again. I feel like I’ve been given a second chance at life—something I don’t deserve but I’d give anything to have. And fuck, I’m going to savor every second of it.
