“Bullshit. You avoided me for weeks in class this summer,” he huffed with a laugh.

“That’s ’cause I had a crush on you, and I didn’t like it.”

“Ah! So you admit it!”

“Yeah, yeah. But I didn’t know you. Now I do. And how would I ignore you at the office? It would be more suspicious than pretending we’re friends.”

Sky inclined his head. “Exactly. That’s how Max and I were. Everyone on the team thought we just clicked…as friends. Now they’re probably wondering what’ll happen next year. Max came out and has a boyfri—”

“What? Wait a second.” I furrowed my brow as I sat up on my elbow. “Your ex came out for another guy, but he wouldn’t come out for you? That fuckin’ sucks.”

“I want to agree with you…and trust me, I was pretty un-fucking-happy about it at first. But that’s not how it works. Two rules in life…you can’t make someone love you, and you can’t tell them when to come out. The first one is just reality, and the other is personal. I was pissed at Max for a lot of reasons. I want to say I’m sad or mad he didn’t love me, but the truth is, I didn’t love him either. I guess I didn’t like coming in second place. I still don’t. We ignored each other for the last half of our season, and I haven’t seen him all summer. I don’t know how it’s gonna go down in January. But it’ll suck for the team if we don’t work it out and move on,” he sighed.

“Let it go. What do you care anyway? You’ve got me now.”

Sky burst into laughter. “One blowjob and you’re sold on gay sex.”

“Well, yeah. And that’s what we’re talkin’ about here…sex. Not relationships.”

“Have you ever been in a serious relationship?”

“No. I usually have three-to-four-month runs with a girlfriend before I fuck up somehow or we get bored. I like the sex part, but truthfully, I’d rather be on the ice than planning movie dates. And I’ve been told it shows.” I waggled my brows playfully. “Hey, did I mention sex? I still have questions.”

He grinned. “Shoot.”

“I get the basic mechanics of a hand job and a blowjob, but I don’t understand anal. Part A goes into part B, but how does it fit? Not to brag or anything, but my dick is pretty big. I don’t think it would work. I googled like you suggested, and the guy on the receiving end looked happy. I just don’t see how.”

“He’s happy ’cause it feels good.”

“But how? And is it clean?”

Sky snickered. “You’re funny. The best sex is dirty, Colby.”

“Okay, yeah, but—”

“I’m very clean,” he intercepted, sidling closer as he pushed his leg between my knees.

I set my hand on his hip. “I believe you. But…hypothetically speaking, if you wanted me to put my dick in your ass, how would I do it?”

His smile spread like wildfire across his face. “You have to stretch the muscle first and get your partner to relax. Then you move carefully so you don’t tear anything.”

“Doesn’t that kill the mood?”

“No. It’s part of the mood. And you can pick up the pace right away. I like it hard and fast…in case you’re offering,” he added with a mischievous smirk.

“Um, yeah. Maybe…no, definitely, I want to, but I don’t know if I’m ready to do it all tonight.”

“There’s no rush,” he assured me.

“Okay. Is there an order? Like should I blow you before I try to—”

Sky set his hand over my mouth and shook his head. “No, don’t overthink it. It’s sex. It’s fun. The best way to make sure we’re both enjoying it is to talk about what you like and what you don’t like.”

“Like this?”

“Yeah. This may be the most I’ve ever talked to a potential booty call before we went all the way,” he said with a laugh, “but I ’spose it’s a good idea to be clear about what we want.”

“Sex…and maybe salad too. I’m hungry. I think I have a frozen pizza I can pop in the oven for us.” I sat up quickly, then moved to my dresser and pulled out a pair of clean boxer briefs. “Hey, one more thing…”

“What is it?”

“I need to be painfully honest here.” I snapped the elastic on my briefs and continued. “I like what we did. It was possibly the sexiest thing I’ve ever done, and I definitely want more, but…school, hockey season, and real life are about to start again next week, and if either of us is done here at any time…no hard feelings, all right?”

“All right.”

“I don’t do drama well and I can’t come out and…”

Sky hopped out of bed and came to stand in front of me with his head cocked. “I promise you, I learned my lesson with Max. I won’t ask you to come out of the closet, and I’ll try to keep my crazy under control.”
