“Thanks. I do.”

“What did Kelly say about it?” he asked.

I frowned. “What does Kelly have to do with anything?”

“I thought you were going to work for her dad after graduation. Even if you’re not together, it’ll still be kinda weird that you’re not with her anymore, won’t it?”

“Hmm. I…I don’t think that’s gonna happen.”

“Why not? It’s a great job. The economy sucks, dude. Do you really have a choice?”

“Of course, I do. Don’t worry about me. I’ll figure it out. You figure out Kendra.”

“Hmph. Not gonna be easy. Wish me luck.”

“You don’t need luck. You need to brush up on your sports trivia.”

“Ha. Ha.”

I chuckled at his put-upon sigh as I hefted myself off the sofa and headed for the kitchen. I took a little more time than necessary to rinse my bowl. Troy was right. Graduation was a few weeks away. I might not want to think about life after college, but it was coming for me. It wasn’t my nature to worry about what came next. Life had a way of sorting things out. But for some reason, that didn’t feel like a safe strategy this time.

I’d always been a “go with the flow” guy. The most significant parts of my life began by chance. Even hockey. I started playing when my next-door neighbor did. My folks liked that it kept me focused and out of trouble. In a relatively short space of time, hockey became my world. It was my directional guide in everything I did, socially and educationally. I ended up at Long Beach with a partial scholarship and yeah, my friends and past girlfriends were all somehow connected to my sport.

My friends had options. Troy was younger than me. He had a year or two to play. And Colby had already started coaching the Pee Wee teams at the rink. Me? I had no fucking clue. The job at Kelly’s dad’s firm might be convenient, but that wasn’t enough for me. I didn’t want to be tied to an ex. For the first time in my life, I wanted to plan my moves with precision and figure out where I was going. And more than anything, I wanted Ned to be part of the equation.

I pushed my jersey up Ned’s back and clutched his shoulders before pumping my hips fast and hard. The way my boy liked it. Ned flattened his palms on the wall above my bed and met me thrust for thrust as he chanted, “Fuck me, fuck me.” His wish was my command, but I didn’t think I’d last much longer. Who could blame me? When my boyfriend suggested enacting a puck bunny-slash-fuck bunny fantasy, I almost blew my load on the spot. The number eight on my jersey blurred as pleasure tingled at the base of my spine. I picked up the pace, then reached around to jack his cock. My hips flew double time, as if I were chasing a runaway train.

“Oh fuck, baby, I’m gonna come,” I growled.

Half a second later, Ned was right there with me. I slowed, but I didn’t stop moving or stroking until I milked every last drop from him.

I smoothed the fabric across his upper back, massaging his sides and his upper thighs. And when I knew he was ready, I pulled out and tidied us both with the towel I left at the end of the bed. Smart, huh? I’d become an expert at sexy-time preparation. The key was to have supplies ready, so we didn’t have to search for lube before we got busy or a cum rag to clean up the mess we usually made.

I threw the cummy towel on the floor, then smacked his ass and pulled him against me as I fell onto the mattress beside him.

“Ow.” Ned set a hand over his red butt cheek and cuddled close, pushing the pillow next to his head off the bed.

“What are you doing?”

“It’s wet. I’ll take yours instead,” he hummed, turning in my arms and snuggling my neck like a puppy.

“Good thing you’re cute,” I huffed.

“You don’t mind. You love—” Buzz, buzz. He kissed my chin and wiggled free. “I should get that.”

I released him but kept my gaze locked on the curve of his gorgeous ass as he bent to grab his phone from the pocket of his discarded pants. I hoped the view distracted me from the crazy thoughts whirling in my brain ’cause yeah…I finished his sentence in my head. “You don’t mind. You love me.” He was probably going to say, “You love my ass,” but that wasn’t what I heard. I only heard, “You love me.”

Did I?

Ned jumped onto the bed before I went into full-freak out mode. His mouth was a perfect O.

“What is it, baby?”

“I got the job,” he whispered.

“Congratulations!” I wrapped him in a giant bear hug and squeezed him tight. “Fuck, I’m proud of you. Which job?”
