“No research.” Wesley shook his head, blushing. “Okay, I’m going to go find food before you say anything else crazy just to make me blush.”
But it was so much fun.
Before I could point that out, Tyler chuckled and leaned closer to kiss Wesley’s head. “One of us needs to guard the table. Do you know what the pup over here likes to eat?”
Wesley nodded eagerly before giving me a devious smile. “But only if he stops driving me insane. Otherwise…I might just have to guess.”
Laughing, I made a grab for the troublemaker, but he only giggled and slipped out of the booth before I could catch him. As he wove his way through the crowd toward the food, still giggling, Tyler looked over at me with a thoughtful smile. “You’re very good for him.”
I shrugged, not wanting to overplay the friend card in case it made him uncomfortable. “We’ve known each other a long time, but honestly I was thinking that you were good for him.”
They’d gone through a few bumps in their relationship, but it was easy to see how Wesley felt about him. Tyler must’ve seen that on my face because he smiled and glanced over in the direction that Wesley had disappeared in. “I’ll go make sure you don’t end up with something terrible just because he’s feeling cheeky. Thanks for holding the table.”
I shook my head at both of them as he got up. “No problem. But you need to spank him if you see spinach on that plate.”
Laughing, Tyler headed off to find his naughty boy, and I relaxed back in my seat enjoying the illusion of silence for a minute. Maybe only a few seconds, honestly, but as everyone headed toward the buffet the caterers had set up, there was enough space around me to breathe and to hear the giggler behind me.
Well, I thought it was the guy who’d laughed before, but someone behind me was having a drama moment about someone he was dating.
I was a cute pup…but I was also a nosy pup.
“You don’t understand. It’s going to be our third date, and he thinks I’m a landscaper.” The panic in the guy’s voice said that was not entirely accurate…and based on present company, I was pretty sure he was not just a landscaper.
Maybe he liked flowered panties and somehow the conversation had gone wrong?
I’d experienced something similar, so it wasn’t quite as far-fetched as it might sound.
“What are you going to do? You said you’d told him already.” The second voice was shocked and something about it was so cute he made me smile. “Lying isn’t helpful. You liked him.”
“Liked?” The sad not-gardener sighed. “You think he’s going to dump me, don’t you?”
Probably.
The second guy made a quiet thinking sound, and it was easy to imagine him shrugging. “I don’t know. You said he was nice.”
Oh, that was usually the kiss of death.
Nice guys were usually nuts.
It seemed like the first guy agreed when he sighed. “I’m doomed.”
Yep.
“What should I do?” The first guy’s question just hung there and as the silence stretched out, I realized the two subs needed someone who wasn’t quite as subby to help.
Stretching up, I turned and tried to look helpful but not stalkerish. “Would you mind if a nosy pup helped out?”
Might as well get that out first thing since I would definitely be a stranger to them and no one in this room was vanilla.
Besides, new friends were fun.
Hopefully.
As long as they weren’t as scary as Eli.
Chapter 2
Ian
Sexy voice guy was still just as sexy when his head popped over the short wall between the booths, smiling and obviously aiming for sweet and innocent.
The fact that he was huge made it a bit harder to pull off, but he was so cute I’d have let him get away with anything he wanted. However, the pup comment said there was a ninety percent chance he was a sub, so I tried not to drool.
Remembering what he’d asked, I smiled back and shrugged. “Go for it. I told him to begin with to make sure the guy knew he was a pup.”
But Kenton never listened.
Sighing, the naughty pup in question looked up at the bigger pup and pouted. “I don’t know how it happened.”
Big pup laughed.
“By not being honest, pup.” Big pup shifted on his bench, stretching one arm down the wall between the booths to see us better. “I’m Bishop. It’s nice to meet you.”
Oh.
“You’re Wesley’s Bishop.” That hadn’t quite come out right, but Bishop didn’t seem to mind.
Nodding eagerly, he beamed. “Yes, I am Wesley’s Bishop.”
Kenton giggled as I found myself blushing. “Sorry. That sounded—”
Bishop cut me off before I could finish. “No, it’s fine. I’m just glad he’s talking about me and not hiding me in the closet like some kink he’s uncomfortable with.”
