All right, I was a Daddy and this was basic Daddy 101 level decisions.

Okay, the vanilla-scented bottle had about half of it gone and it was toward the front, so I picked that one along with a basket of fat little plastic animals that looked like they would float. As I peeked over at Ian, he started to giggle. “Cookies.”

Cookies?

Oh, the smell.

“Cookies are the best.” Making a silly growling sound, I leaned over and pretended to eat his neck. “You’re going to smell yummy.”

Laughing, Ian threw his arms around me and squirmed. “Yummy.”

His giggles continued long after I released his neck and stood, wanting to get him in the tub before he fell asleep. “Nilla.”

And more giggles.

Clearly, smelling like cookies was hilarious.

As the water started to flow and bubbles started to foam, I turned back to my now half-naked little boy.

“Tuck.”

Stuck.

Yep, somehow he’d managed to get the shirt half off and wrapped around his head, but the issue seemed to be the giant plastic boat he was refusing to release. “Tuck, Daddy.”

Oh yes.

Trying not to laugh because he seemed very serious, I took a breath. “Yes, you’re stuck. Give me the boat and I’ll keep it safe for you. Then we can get you unstuck.”

The cutest grumbling came from the mess, but after a moment, Ian huffed. “‘Kay, Daddy.”

Taking the boat that seemed to be for the animals, I set it on the sink before helping him unravel the disaster he’d made of his shirt. I wasn’t sure how he’d done it, but his propensity for racing while little had to be part of it.

“There we go.” Smiling when his head came loose, I put his shirt in the small laundry basket. “All free.”

“Tuck.” He gave the shirt a look like he was blaming the cotton for all the problems in life. Then just as quick, he was smiling again and looking around. “Boat?”

Handing the toy over without laughing, I reached for his jeans as he turned the boat over in his hand and made motor noises. He didn’t even seem to realize what I was doing. There were no reactions or embarrassment as I stripped his clothes off.

I didn’t know how I should’ve felt, but relief was the only thing that coursed through me as I finally eased his jeans and briefs down his legs. His soft cock was completely uninterested in what we were doing and it made it easier for me to ignore it.

Nudity wasn’t anything nerve-racking to me, but it was one of those steps that I hadn’t wanted to fuck up with Ian.

When I’d helped him step out of his clothes and they’d gone in the basket, I kissed his head again. “All set. Climb in.”

The water was almost done, so as Ian and the pile of toys went into the tub, I turned off the tap and sat down on the closed toilet lid. “You’ve got lots of bubbles.”

That made him giggle as he started piling the bubbles up and moving them around until he had what seemed to be islands for the boat to explore around. The soft motoring sounds made me smile as I watched him play, lost in his own world.

When the bubbles started to fade and he started glaring at the water like he was personally offended it was getting cold, I decided it was bedtime. I was smart enough not to say that, though. I just picked up what seemed to be his loofah and squirted a very neutral-smelling bodywash on it.

I was betting it was neutral so it didn’t clash with the constant bubbles, but I didn’t ask. No, that would’ve been silly when I’d only get a one-word answer.

“Should we make muffins in the morning?” He’d gone shopping at some point over the past few days because there were now several packages in the pantry that hadn’t been there before.

And since I could take a hint, I wasn’t surprised when he gave an excited nod. “Lots.”

Barely holding back my laughter, I nodded. “Yes, we’ll have lots of muffins and we’ll find some other goodies to go with them.”

There had to be something that wasn’t filled with sugar and crap to go with them.

Ian made a soft hum of agreement as I started scrubbing his back and under his arms. “Berries?”

I wasn’t sure if he was asking for berry muffins or for berries to go with the muffins, but either way, I nodded. “You’re making me hungry.”

That got more giggles as I made quick work of scrubbing his chest and then jumping down to his feet since they were in easy reach. When we were left with just the water-covered bits, I set the scrubby down and started picking up the toys. “Cuddle time. Should we go find a book?”

That seemed better than asking a stupid question like if he was ready to get out of the tub, and soon the toys were lined up on the edge. “Bunnies?”
