I was assuming he meant little or naughty, and sadly it hadn’t been either.

“Well, as long as you had fun.” Leaning back in the tiny chair I wasn’t sure would support him, Bishop took another sip. “How did Kenton’s night go? He seemed confident it would end well when he left the party.”

Thankfully, that was easier to answer than the sleepover question had been. “It went great. They’re working on better communication and Kenton knows he has to open up more, but I think they’re going to work it out.”

And I wasn’t jealous at all…nope, not a bit.

“That’s great.” Bishop reached forward and broke off a piece of his muffin. “I still can’t believe he got that far into dating the guy and hadn’t told him.”

Me neither…but I could understand hiding from the possible drama.

“Do you really show a date your…” I glanced around to make sure we still had privacy before turning back to Bishop. “That side of you before you get serious with someone?”

He nodded, not seemingly bothered by my nosy question. “Yep, most of the time just explaining it is enough to chase off the wrong guys. But occasionally they actually see my pup and then walk away.”

That would suck.

“They just leave?” His nod and the look on his face made me realize he’d downplayed the problem. “But not all the time?”

He wasn’t making me want to be more open.

“Not all the time.” His smile peeked out again and he beamed. “Like after you left on Friday, I met a guy, Cohen. He took it great and we had a good time. So sometimes it works out.”

Cohen?

The business suit guy who hung around with Preston and Eli?

Had they gone out?

Not that I would begrudge Bishop if they had. Cohen seemed nice and he could keep eye contact no matter what a model was wearing. Not even Eli could distract him.

Wait.

Wasn’t he straight?

“What about you?” Bishop gave me a soft smile when I shrugged. “You don’t have to answer if you don’t want to.”

“No, it’s not that.” For some reason, I didn’t mind sharing with Bishop, especially when it let me ignore the elephant in the room…his night with Cohen. “I just don’t have that many people who’ve seen that side of me. I date here and there, but most of the Doms I’ve met have been Doms, not Daddies.”

There was a difference, no matter what some people thought.

Bishop nodded like he understood. “I ran into similar situations. I met a few Doms in my area, but they weren’t into the same things and were…I’m not sure what the right word is, but just more intense than I was looking for.”

But…

There was something in his voice or the way it almost trailed off that made me curious. “But…”

He chuckled. “You read me pretty well for not having known me long.”

I shrugged, trying to play it off. “You’re Wesley’s Bishop. We all know you really well at this point.”

Laughing, his cheeks pinked as he shook his head. “I’m never going to live that down. Around here, I’m going to be Wesley’s Bishop forever.”

Unless he became my Bishop.

But that was a completely inappropriate thought to have about a new friend—a new friend who might’ve already met someone else—so I laughed, nodding and trying to push back the stupid wandering thoughts. “Yep, we have long memories and we love good stories.”

He groaned, but his face was too bright for the drama to be genuine. “I don’t even want to know what stories he told.”

I was about to be helpful and volunteer until he turned the conversation back around to me. “No stories about me. I want stories about you. If you didn’t have a playtime sleepover this weekend, then when do you get to be little? Why didn’t your friends just make it into a little sleepover?”

He asked the most interesting questions.

“It doesn’t come up that often.” Regular people didn’t do things like that. “We still had fun, talking, too much alcohol. That kind of stuff, but most people tend to forget about it.”

As I grinned, shrugging and hoping to figure out a way to talk about something else, his brows pulled together. “Why don’t they? Cartoons, some crayons or games…it’d be just as much fun.”

It would?

“I…” I found myself shrugging again.

How had the conversation gone so off track so quickly?

“Um, we just don’t talk about my little side that often.” I wasn’t sure if there was a reason why. Sometimes something fun like my Play-Doh would come up, but we never actually used it. “Well, I’ve talked about it, so it’s not a surprise.”

There was very little privacy at work, so I hadn’t even tried to hide it, but that didn’t mean I had to broadcast it or ask people to play with me.

That would’ve been…

“Eli would play with you.” Bishop said it so matter-of-factly I knew he thought he was telling God’s honest truth. “He’s got a friend that he hangs out with sometimes and they color and play dress-up.”
