“Good boy, pup.” Stroking my hand over his head, I kissed his forehead before settling back against the couch. “Tell me your plan.”

I should’ve started with a discussion about how I wouldn’t accept vague answers to important questions any longer, but I figured he already knew that.

Bishop took a breath, looking relieved not to get another lecture, and sat straighter. “I purchased a train ticket that leaves on Tuesday to head back to the old apartment. I have basic quotes from two different moving companies, and I’m waiting on the third before I make my decision. I’ve looked at reviews for all of them. However, one can have the move done quicker because they had a recent cancellation, so I think I might pick them.”

He paused, holding his breath as I nodded. “That sounds like you’ve gotten a lot started. You’ll make sure they’re insured along with looking at the reviews?”

Bishop gave me an earnest nod before taking a deep breath to steady himself. “And the quotes include the furniture that’s in storage.”

Oh.

I knew how hard thinking about his parents death was for my pup, so I rested my hand against his cheek and just held him as he worked his way through it.

He closed his eyes as he leaned into my hand. I could feel some of the tension easing out of him, but sticking to the facts seemed to help him push through it. “I have pictures and the appraisals for the important pieces…and the companies seemed to understand that some of the antiques will have to be shipped carefully.”

This was going to be an expensive move.

Now I was the one letting out a deep breath. Bishop’s eyes peeked open like he’d heard the tension in just the puff of air. “Did you think of something, Sir?”

“Just that this was going to be expensive for you and a huge change.” I sat up and gave him a soft kiss. “I was feeling selfish for a moment, but I truly think this will be a wonderful chance for you, pup.”

He smiled, nuzzling against my hand again. “I know it will, Sir.”

Turning his head, he pressed a kiss against my palm before going still again. When he spoke, reassuring me was obviously his intent. “But even if we don’t work out, I will have friends here and this is a very logical move. I’ve been unhappy for a long time. This will be good for me.”

I gave him a teasing frown. “Already planning on leaving me for a drama queen you met at L and L?”

His eyes widened and he barked out a laugh. “Oh no. You and my sweet boy are it for me.”

Sweet didn’t even begin to describe my pup or our boy.

“I’m glad. Because you and our sweet boy are it for me too.” Stroking his cheek gently with my thumb, I tried not to sound like I was getting ready to buy his collar already.

I mean, I had.

But I didn’t need to sound like I had.

I wasn’t going to rush him or Ian.

Bishop gave me a soft smile and rubbed his face against my palm again. “I was very good today, Sir, and I got a lot planned.”

Cheeky brat.

“Yes, you did, and now you’re going to tell me everything else you’ve planned so I don’t worry.” A bit of guilt went a long way and he sighed as he slouched.

“Yes, Sir.” It didn’t last long, though.

Just as quickly, he took a breath and straightened, charging right back in. “I’m going to find a storage facility to rent to put the long-term stuff I don’t need right now. The rest will fit in my new apartment. Once the old place is packed up, I’ll get everything else finalized and drive back.”

Before I could respond and ask if he needed someone to drive back with him, he took a breath and charged back in. “There will be a bit of time between when I get back and when my stuff gets here, so unless you have a problem with it, I was thinking about going back and forth between here and Ian’s?”

I wanted them both here all the time, but that wasn’t reasonable…or at least Preston kept saying it wasn’t…so I nodded. “I think that’s a very good plan.”

And thorough as well.

“Is there anything you need help with?” When a cheeky grin popped up on his face, I huffed. “I know you’d tell me if you couldn’t afford the move. Is there anything like research or to-do lists that you need help with?”

He giggled, shaking his head. “I’ve got everything planned. I think?”

Shrugging, he relaxed against my hand again. “But I will tell you if I need help, and I will keep going over the plans with you so you know what I’ve done and what I’m thinking.”

And so there wouldn’t be another wait, I don’t have a bed situation.
