It’s just morning sex, and morning sex is something I’ve always wanted but never let myself have because my mind races so hard in the morning. Most of my bad decisions are born in the early daylight hours.

But this isn’t that, because he’s my husband, and we have a deal.

“Turn over, Beth. Ass in the air.”

I release a rush of air. “God, I thought you’d never ask.”

The only warning I get after the crinkle of the condom wrapper is his hand brushing down my back.

I hiss my pleasure when he presses inside of me, my back arching as I push back.

He mentioned once that he loved the way I chased after his cock when he pulled out, but I don’t try that now to please him. It’s what my body is demanding of me.

“Not today, vixen,” he growls, locking his hands around my waist and holding me in place. “I swear you do that shit to make me come faster.”

I whimper when he slams forward, my body taking every part of him.

“I do,” I gasp. “Because I want to come again.”

“I’ll get you there, sweetheart. Promise.”

He does... twice more.

The man is ravenous after a good night’s sleep, and I’m the winner of that recharge.

Once again, he drags me into the shower, only this time he doesn’t just wash my hair and body.

He plays me like a one-man band with the skill of an entire orchestra of instruments at his disposal.

Chapter 15

Oracle

“You gonna take her on your bike?” Legacy asks as he approaches.

I shift to the side, giving him access to the coffee pot and lift my own fresh cup to my lips.

“At some point,” I tell him.

I wouldn’t be in the kitchen right now if we hadn’t been starving after our shower. I’d much prefer to eat and then go back to the room. There’s too much reality swirling around on this side of the door.

I know Beth needs to see that she can be around people who aren’t going to judge her as harshly as the people in Lindell, but it also seems a little cruel to have sat her down at the table beside Newton, Stormy, and Mila, especially with their kids chattering away at the other nearby table. It might possibly be stimulus overload for her. I frown as I watch the fake smile on her face falter when Sutton, Stormy’s young daughter, tries to hand her a piece of scrambled egg from her breakfast plate from the other table.

Beth declines with a gentle thank you but looks alarmed when the child continues to hold the food out for her.

Thankfully, Mila gently urges Sutton’s hand back into her own space before whispering a soft apology to Beth.

“But what’s the point in even talking if you’re not listening.”

“Hmm?”

“Exactly,” Legacy says, his head shaking back and forth, but the grin on his face tells a different story from the irritation he’s attempting in his chastisement. “It’s no surprise you’re distracted. After marrying Devyn, I don’t think we left the room for a week. It honestly surprises me to see you two so soon.”

“Have to eat,” I tell him, lifting my cup to my mouth once again.

He and Devyn are head over heels in love with each other. Their story is nothing like the fake one between Beth and me.

“What were you saying before?”

He drops the spoon back onto the spoon rest before turning around and pressing his back to the counter beside me. The man makes me wait, probably because I wasn’t listening when he spoke earlier, before he explains.

“I said it’ll be weird for you to eventually get her on your bike, considering today is the first of four toy runs we have scheduled.”

He chuckles like he won some sort of prize when I snap my head in his direction. “That’s today?”

He nods, taking a slow sip of his coffee, the sound of it loud and annoying.

“So, whatever plans you have for wanting to stay in bed for the next week will just have to wait.” He claps me on the back, almost making me spill my coffee, before walking away.

I spend another minute just watching her interact with the others before heading in her direction. I figure rescuing her right now would be better than having to search for her later after she bolts. Some of the folks here at the clubhouse can be a little intense.

“Everyone?” I hear Mila ask when I approach.

“Lindell isn’t that big,” Beth says.

“But you know every person in the city limits?”

“Mostly,” she says, looking up at me with a relieved grin when I press my hand to her back. “Obviously, I don’t know everyone who attends the college, and there are always a few people just passing through town, but yeah, for the most part, I know everyone in town.”

“I can’t even wrap my head around that,” Mila says.
