The cinema seated about thirty people, and King, the former prez, had equipped it with modern armchairs, a brand-new sound system, and extra bean bags at the front. Sometimes the cinema room was used for family-friendly time, sometimes, like tonight—to spice up the sex parties with porn.

Jake had fond memories of the place, because the guys liked to receive blowjobs in here while they were getting a porn fix at the same time. And then on the completely opposite side of the spectrum, there were the nights when they’d all gather here, Fox’s kids and hangarounds included, and watch blockbusters while eating homemade cakes.

“No problem. Anytime!” Jake yelled back with a smile as he was already rushing down the corridor.

He wanted to freshen up, maybe change his shirt before the next assignment coming his way. He’d just ignore Vars and do his thing. The patches would surely notice what a prick the new prospect was soon enough. With that thought relieving the tension inside Jake’s gut, he ran up the stairs and entered his room with a grin that dropped the moment he spotted two people standing by the window.

Vars leaned against the wall and waved at him. Next to him was Gray, busy moving Jake’s bed. Freeing up the space was a necessity, since there was now a second place to sleep on the other side of the room, where Jake used to keep his desk.

So it wasn’t enough Vars had totally blindsided and humiliated him at the garage? He wanted to live in Jake’s room too?

“Um… Gray? What’s going on here?” Jake made sure to avoid Vars’s scorching gaze at all costs.

Lickable, his mind reminded, causing goose bumps to prick up all over Jake’s arms.

Vars had called him lickable.

Gray gave Jake’s bed a final push and stretched, peeling his black sweater away from where it clung against his stomach. “Knight hasn’t told you? He and Beast decided to put you in one room, so that you can learn to work together faster.”

“We moved all your stuff to your half,” Vars said, indicating the crowd of furniture and... well, stuff on Jake’s side, which stood in high contrast with the minimalism of the other half of the room. Only two pieces of luggage rested on the other bed.

“That’s so unfair. Shouldn’t he sleep on the couch in the common room for a while, like I did?” Jake spread his arms, frustrated to no end. Now that he was ill with… whatever was happening to him, the last thing he needed was Vars spying on him.

Hitting on him.

He cast a quick glance at Vars and noticed that the winter motorcycle gear was gone. Black leather clung to the muscular legs above the heavy motorcycle boots with numerous buckles, but the upper half of Vars’s body remained mostly on show, with a thin white tank top to cover a chest with pecs like thick pieces of steak. His arms were equally thick, with bulging, tattooed muscle promising strength to hold Jake in place, were he to ever sample the contents of Vars’s pants. And then there was the gray hair emerging from underneath the thin white fabric. It looked so soft Jake briefly fantasized of burying his face in it.

The playing cards and dice interwoven into the black-and-white designs on Vars’s skin briefly sent Jake’s mind to the kind of casino where boys pleasured successful players under the table. He saw himself rubbing his face against a bulge straining the front of soft leather pants, Vars’s hand urging him on with a pull on his hair.

He became so unfocused he forgot what he’d been saying by the time Gray approached, back straight and hands resting on his hips. He was the same height as Jake, if narrower in the shoulders, but he carried himself in a way that commanded all the respect a patch deserved.

“That’s not up to you.”

Jake pursed his lips but he didn’t fight. This was exactly the type of attitude Gray had at the gym when they were training, and Jake had no choice other than obedience. The level way in which Gray spoke always made Jake want to follow orders, no matter how hard the training was getting. Gray didn’t need to be the size of Beast to make Jake listen, and he was like the devil himself with guns and knives, even if Jake lifted heavier weights.

Gray was also kind, considerate, and a good teacher, so the last thing Jake wanted was to be a nuisance.

“Okay,” Jake spat in the end.

Gray exhaled, and his chest sank under the sweater he was wearing. Stepping closer, he patted Jake’s arms with both hands. “You’ll be fine.”

“I’m sure we’ll be good friends by the end of the week,” Vars said from his side of the room once Gray let go of Jake and moved toward the door.
