“Hutch did it.”

“They’ve always been different with Hutch, compared to Mads.” Which wasn’t a good thing either. They put all their heart into Mads and all their expectations on Hutch.

“You know what I think? I think there’s a wild woman in there, waiting to burst free. I think Maddy wants to experience life and the world in ways she hasn’t braved yet, but when she does, the world had better watch out. And one day, she will.”

I wasn’t so sure I agreed. I hoped so. I wanted that for her. She deserved to have whatever it was her heart desired.

“Anyway, enough about them,” my sister added, and I exhaled a relieved breath. It was always awkward to talk about the Hutchinsons. “Your waiter is watching you.”

I tossed a look over my shoulder and gave him a grin. Christ, he really was pretty and very clearly interested. “I think I want him, Kins.”

She laughed. “You think, huh? Well, if you do, you’ll get him. I’m not sure there’s a damn thing in this world you can’t get if you wanted it.”

Nah, I didn’t agree with her on that, but I didn’t say it. I wanted…more, though I wasn’t quite sure what that was. I had family I loved and a career I was passionate about, which hadn’t been easy. It was something Kinsley and I joked about often—the expectations that came with the Lynwood name and how I’d shucked them aside and followed my own dream, despite my parents thinking I could do better.

But this man? Him I could have, and why not? I was young, single, and I damn sure enjoyed that fact, even if it did feel emptier than I let myself acknowledge.

I looked at Grayson again and nodded toward our table. He brought the bill with him. When I gave him my credit card, I said, “If you’re interested, you should write your phone number on my receipt.”

He grinned. “I’m interested.”

He shook his ass when he walked away, and Kinsley huffed. “Why does everyone find you so charming?” she teased.

“Because, big sister, they’re correct.”

We shared another laugh. It was good to be home.

Kinsley and I went our separate ways after lunch. I called Grayson that evening. He came over, had a beer, and then we took turns blowing each other. Afterward we sat outside on the balcony in our underwear, both on our phones. He stayed for another drink, then said he had to go.

Short. Sweet. No strings attached.

Just how I liked it.

TheDoctorIsIn: Are you really on a hookup app after a hookup?

I smiled at the doctor’s message—if he really was a doctor. He’d said so, but he could be full of shit. For some reason, I didn’t think so. Something about him and our last conversation had snagged my interest. I liked him. Well, liked what I knew of him, at least.

GoodWithHisHands: What makes you think I just had a hookup?

TheDoctorIsIn: Because he hit me up on the app when you guys finished. I saw two people online, and he told me he’d just met up with someone and if I was interested, we could hang out later.

I laughed. Grayson didn’t play around, not that I blamed him. Nothing wrong with orgasms between consenting adults. I was very much a live-and-let-live kind of guy. I wasn’t sure I’d ever get serious again—something my parents weren’t too happy about. But I didn’t know if I could go through all that again. Risking someone else’s heart, or my own, wasn’t something I wanted to repeat.

GoodWithHisHands: Did you agree?

TheDoctorIsIn: He just left you. How quick do you think I am? When I have a man beneath me, believe me, I like to take my time.

A shiver ran down my spine, landing in my groin. Even though it had only been an hour or so since I’d gotten off, my cock perked up. It was fucking crazy, really; they were simply words on my phone, but again, something about my doctor hit all the right buttons.

GoodWithHisHands: I’m trying to decide if I should take offense to him messaging you from here. I’m very, very good in bed, but I didn’t spend much time with him. Does it always take a lot of time for you to get someone off?

I waited with bated breath to see how he would respond to my joke. Whatever it was, I had a feeling it would be good.

TheDoctorIsIn: Just because I said I like to take my time doesn’t mean I can’t get the job done. If we ever meet up, I’ll prove it to you. I can make you come in five minutes, guaranteed, but I’ll make you suffer some, make you earn the privilege of blowing your load.

Aaaand, I was definitely hard now. I didn’t even know what this man’s face looked like, but then, I didn’t have to. I just liked his words.
