“I think Bryn might hate me; what am I even going to be going back to?”
“Bryn does not hate you. You got him close enough to lick that sacred nugget of meat and he’s going to love you forever for that.”
“Nugget of meat!” She laughs. “Have you ever taken anything seriously?”
She asks a lot of questions. I like her questions. A curious Elise who assumes she doesn’t have all the answers is preferable to her previous attitude where she thought she knew everything. She’s changed a lot, and so have I. Or maybe not. Time will tell.
“I take you seriously. I take killing demons, when they’re not one of the many, many demons we’re now allied with, seriously. I take our future seriously.”
I feel her melt against me. Sometimes she needs reminding in words how much I adore her, how much my world has revolved around her from the moment we met, how I could never, ever be without her.
She kisses me sweetly, and then deeply as I wrap my arms around her and hold her close. She is all that matters in this world or the next, my angel, my lover, my wife.
SMACK!
“Ow!” She complains against my mouth. “What was that for?”
“Anything and everything, forever and ever…”
She giggles, picking up on my cue and kisses me again, wriggling her ass for another one of those smacks she needs, craves, and oh-so-badly deserves before moaning a final coherent word in my ear before we devolve into being nothing more than two grinding, oily beasts knotting on the beach.
“Amen.”
