And yet, the housekeeper’s words seemed to make sense. Where better to find what I’m looking for than in the one place guaranteed to have it? I’m aware that the library is almost as old as the town and that there’re hundred year old tomes housed there, some older than that in fact.

So I found myself grabbing the keys to my car and heading back out again. It’s only as I sat behind the wheel of the Bentley that I realized what I’d done, that I’d taken the wrong keys, but I the thought of trekking back through the snow into the house then warming up the truck that hadn’t been driven in a while now that I think about it did not appeal.

It was only a five-minute drive to the library on a clear day, but today with at least two feet on the ground, most of which had been cleared from the main roads, it took me an extra ten. I sat for another few after turning the car off, long enough to see Mrs. Horton leave and get into her Cadillac.

Usually I would’ve been worried about her out and about in this kind of weather but she drove very carefully and seemed to know how to handle herself. I looked towards the door to the library before sighing deeply and stepping out into the cold morning air.

I expected to see more people inside since this place is like the local gathering hub for the elderly residents who don’t get around too much. But I guess this was to be expected on a day like this. I didn’t quite see her when I first walked in even though she was sitting behind the desk that was straight ahead.

It was the full sized plant that sat beside the desk that hid her from my view and maybe the reason why she didn’t notice me right away. It was the sound she made that drew my eyes to her, that and the odd feeling I got after hearing it.

It sounded like she was having sex, but from my vantage point she seemed to be alone, unless there was someone under the desk. It was the burst of rage I felt at the sound that surprised me though. That and the way I strode deeper into the room with my fists folded as if ready for a fight.

She made that sound again as I stood watching her undetected and I saw what it was that was making her act that way. As I watched her lick the frosting from her lips and bite into the cupcake again a lot of things happened at once.

My dick got hard and in my head it was as if I’d seen her do that exact same thing before. Flashes of memory flitted in and out of my head as I looked at her, but not her, as I felt like myself and yet not quite me. A sense of vertigo set in the longer I stood there and I reached out as if to grab ahold of something.

She turned just then, her lips covered in frosting and a look of pleasure on her face. The feet that moved towards her weren’t mine, I knew it was me walking, could feel it even, but there was something else here, someone else.

I tried shaking my head to escape the odd feeling but nothing stopped me from moving towards her. And when I reached her, walking around the desk and lifting her from the chair as she looked up at me with what looked like need, I ceased being the me I know and became someone else entirely.

The strange thing is that I could feel it happening but was powerless to stop it. I thought briefly of my earlier thought about the happenings in this town being paranormal but the thought didn’t linger. Especially when I lowered my lips to hers and took.

The taste of the cupcake on her lips was familiar, the feel of her in my arms, the way her breasts felt pressed into my chest, I would’ve sworn I’ve felt it all before. And when she took my tongue into her mouth I sunk into her, lost for that moment in time in a world not my own.

I lifted my head long enough to look towards the door and relaxed when I saw that it had started snowing again. Good! No one is going to come out in this. It dawned on me that she hadn’t said a word since I walked in, hadn’t protested when I took her into my arms; and when I lifted her and sat her on the desk, using the plant there as a shield to keep us both hidden, all she did was open her legs to make room for me.
