“You told me you hated me. Then you blocked my number.”

“Yeah.” She folded her arms over her chest. “Because I don’t want to talk to you.”

That hurt to hear, but the part of me that couldn’t get her telling me she loved me out of my head, refused to believe it. “I didn’t mean to hurt you,” I said.

Her chin dropped to her chest. She traced small circles on her knee. “I would have done anything for you. And you just…” She shook her head. “You know what, it doesn’t matter.”

“Everything I did was because I loved you.”

“Then, I don’t want your love because it hurts.” When she looked up at me, tears welled in her eyes. “It still hurts! I can’t move past you. And now you’re back.”

I felt like an asshole. I had never been in love with someone before her, so I had no idea that love wasn’t something a person got over. It was like a piece of shrapnel buried underneath the skin. Something not visible, but something painful that would always be felt.

“And I can’t move past you, so what the hell are we supposed to do, Roe? Huh?” I took a few steps across the room, wanting so bad to kiss her. Feeling every bit of me rip wide open for her. “I meant it when I told you I would never love anyone the way I loved you. Because I won’t love anyone but you.” My throat tightened. My chest caught. I crossed the small space, dropping to my knees and taking her face in my hands before pressing my mouth to hers.

She tensed in my hold for a second, her hands going to my shoulders before her lips parted. Having her lips against mine like this again, it took everything in me not to break down. I pressed my forehead to hers, fighting the raw emotion clawing up my throat. “Please, don’t hate me. I can’t take that.”

“I can’t stop loving you.” Her voice broke on a soft sob while her fingers wrapped around my wrists. “I tried. So hard.”

I kissed her again. Harder. Longer. “If you’ll give me another chance, I swear to God, I won’t leave you.”

“Can we start with three months?”

I fought a smile, then kissed her again. Fuck three months; I was getting that girl for the rest of my life.

Epilogue

Monroe

Zepp’s navy work coveralls crumpled around his waist, exposing his white wife-beater covered in oil. I raked my eyes over him. Biting at my lip, I reached inside his coveralls. He was the hottest mechanic I’d ever seen, that was for sure.

He pressed a kiss to my forehead. “After dinner. I made reservations.”

“You made...reservations?” I lifted a brow.

“Yeah.” He finished stripping down. “Gotta be there in an hour.”

“I think we should stay in,” I said, trailing my fingers over his chest. “Order pizza later…”

He grabbed a towel from his dresser. “I don’t want pizza.”

“You always want pizza, Zepp!” I folded my arms over my chest.

“If you want pizza, you can get it at Olive Garden.” He shot a smile like he was proud of that before he went into the hallway.

“Olive Garden?” What the hell? Olive Garden was Jonathan’s favorite restaurant back at school. And he’d put me off it for life. It was so very not Zepp. “To eat expensive pizza?”

The water in the shower cut on. I waited a second before following him into the bathroom. I had to wonder why the hell he wanted to go so badly. I stripped out of my clothes and pulled the curtain back before getting into the tub. He ran his hand through his soaked hair, a slight smirk working over his lip when he fisted his dick. My skin flushed instantly.

I trailed my fingers down his hard stomach. “If I suck your dick, can we stay here?”

“No.” He gave himself another tug while his gaze swept over my body.

“No?”

Zepp had never turned me down in my life. And he wasn’t about to start now. I stepped into the warm water, pressing my body to his before I slapped his hand away, replacing it with my own.

“I mean, you can suck it, but we’re still going to dinner.” He gave a little thrust in my slick hand. “Your call, Roe.”

“You know I don’t need fancy restaurants. I just want you.” I bit his bottom lip, and his fingers dug into my hip.

“Why do you have to be so damn stubborn?”

“How am I being stubborn?” I squeezed his dick, and a breath hissed through his teeth. “I want to fuck and eat pizza, like normal.”

“And I just want to go to Olive Garden. Damn.” He sure was getting agitated over some Italian food.

I dropped to my knees on the shower floor and licked him. He slammed a palm over the tile.
