Then, with a triumphant smile, I leave the shed.

When I reach my room again, I fall onto my bed, relaxed and more than a little pleased with myself. Maybe now he’ll think twice before depriving me of an orgasm. I know he wouldn’t have liked that I walked away from that entirely in control, so I’m sure I’ll hear about it next time we have sex. I’m looking forward to it.

My phone buzzes beside my bed and I roll, picking it up to see a text from Western.

W – You’re goin to regret that.

Grinning, I respond.

B – I can’t wait.

Then, I fall to my back with a shit eating grin on my face, and I fall asleep.

Tonight being the first night I don’t feel so alone being in this club.

Maybe I might come to like it here.

Who knows.

I’m ready to find out.

“This is fucked!”

The roaring of a man has me jerking awake, my eyes hazy as I figure out where I am. When I remember I’m at the club, I begin to focus more on the yelling coming from downstairs. It’s angry and whatever is happening, has chaos unfolding down below. Pushing out of my bed, I rub my eyes as I open the door to better hear what’s happening.

“This isn’t up for discussion,” Colt’s smooth voice fills my ears. “The decision was made long ago, Theo. Don’t fuck with my choices.”

“He has been in prison for twenty fuckin’ years and now he’s here, runnin’ the club as if he knows what has gone down. He has no fuckin’ idea what we’ve done in that time, and you’re here givin’ it over like he does.”

Oh.

That doesn’t sound good.

“He knows more than you could possibly fuckin’ imagine, and the decision to put him in charge was mine and mine alone. You don’t like it, you can fuckin’ take a step out that door, but you know what will happen if you do,” Colt growls, his voice scarily low.

What will happen?

What does happen if someone leaves the club?

Do they die?

What?

My gosh, I need to know.

“He is goin’ to bring us down,” Theo mutters. “He is goin’ to get someone killed.”

“Not your fuckin’ concern,” Colt grinds out, his voice becoming more and more irritated. “Now you better back the fuck down before I put you down.”

“If you think I’m goin’ to sit back and take orders from him just because he’s your son, then you’re wrong.”

Chaos unfolds, and the sounds of grunting and fists flying can be heard. My eyes widen as I press myself closer to the door, not game to go down and see what’s happening. The fighting becomes more intense, and male growls and curses flow up the stairs. They’re fighting, and I have a feeling it won’t end well.

“Enough.”

Western’s sudden roar is so loud even I flinch and take a step back.

“You have a choice,” he goes on, his voice cold as ice, “you walk out that fuckin’ door and hand over your patch, losin’ everything you fuckin’ own, or you step the fuck down and follow my lead. What’s it goin’ to be?”

“Fuck you, Night,” Theo growls. “I’ll never fuckin’ follow your lead.”

“Then you will leave,” Western snarls, his tone so terrifying, I rub my arms as if that’ll bring some sort of comfort. “Mex, deal with him. You know how.”

Then, it falls silent.

I step back into my room, closing the door, my heart racing. What the hell happens now? Will they just take his patch? Or will they kill him? I don’t know how it all works, but I have a feeling it isn’t as easy as walking away and going on with your life as if you were never part of the club. That just doesn’t seem to be how they would work.

Sitting on the edge of the bed, I go to pick up my phone when I rings, Leo’s name flashing across the screen.

I have a feeling he knows I’m not sick, and he’s probably wondering where I am. I hate that I must lie to him, but I don’t want him getting involved. He could get hurt, or worse, and I would never forgive myself. No, he can’t know what is going on. I have to make up a story, or he isn’t going to stop until he finds me.

“Hey,” I say, answering the phone, keeping my voice calm.

“Where are you, Bon? Don’t lie to me, I know you’re not at home. I’ve been there twice. What’s going on?”

I exhale. “I’m visiting my mom.”

I’m quite close to my mom, even though she doesn’t live close by. It wouldn’t be too much of a stretch for me to go and visit her.

“Really?” Leo mutters. “You just left to visit her and told me you were sick. That doesn’t make any sense and I know you’re lying to me.”
