I squeeze my eyes closed.

What the hell is happening to me?

The sound of running water fills the silence of the suite.

Even in my hungover state, I hate to admit how tempting it is to roll from the bed and follow him into the shower.

How hilarious is it that I thought Colby would be lousy or selfish in bed?

Laughter bubbles up in my throat because nothing could be further from the truth.

All I can say is that the man definitely knows how to wield his stick. It doesn’t matter if we just started having sex. Somehow, he’s managed to find all my buttons.

And he enjoys pressing them until I fall completely apart.

But…

If I allow myself to give in and join him, the only thing I’m doing is complicating matters more than they already are.

I sit up and glance into the bathroom, realizing that he’s already stepped inside the marble enclosure.

“Waiting for you, wifey,” he calls out, voice raised to be heard over the water.

A shiver slides through me before settling in my core at the name and the growly voice that accompanies it.

No. I can’t do this.

I can’t get sucked in any deeper.

For both our sakes, I need to pull the plug now.

Decision made, I whip off the covers and stumble to my feet. My hand rises to my forehead as the headache roars back to life with a vengeance.

As tempting as it is to crawl back into bed and sleep it off, I force myself to move. I need to slip away before Colby gets out of the shower. I race to the suitcase, rummaging around until I find clean underwear, a bra, yoga pants, and a sweatshirt. Then I throw my hair up into a ponytail before glancing at the bathroom. He’s still in there. And from what I can tell, he’s humming the same song I sang to him on the plane.

The guilt that rushes in nearly swallows me whole.

Even though I feel like shit for leaving this way, I need time to clear my head and I can’t do that around Colby. He muddles everything.

I rush around and grab everything I packed for the weekend before dragging the small piece of luggage behind me and exiting the suite.

It’s only when the door clicks shut that a puff of relief escapes from me.

COLBY

I step out of the shower and grab a plush towel off the heated rack before drying my face, hair, and chest. For a second or two, I consider wrapping it around my waist and heading back to the bedroom. Instead, I toss it over the glass wall of the enclosure.

Why bother?

Britt melts into a puddle whenever she sees me naked. At the very least, she’s rendered speechless at the sight. And right now, that’s exactly what’s needed to soften her up.

The only thing on my mind is sliding back inside the tight heat of her body.

If I thought one time would be enough to dampen these budding feelings of attraction, I was mistaken.

The more I have, the more insatiable I become.

What’s glaringly obvious is that this weekend wasn’t enough to quash the growing need I’ve developed where she’s concerned.

So…

All I can say is that what happens in Vegas is definitely not staying in Vegas.

After I rock her world, we can discuss this whole marriage situation we’ve gotten ourselves into. I glance at the thick silver band wrapped around my finger and brace myself for a wave of panic to crash over me for tying myself to another person. One I barely know.

Strangely enough, it never happens.

Even though this was an impulsive decision made while drunk off my ass, I kind of like the idea that Britt belongs to me.

Does that necessarily mean that we’ll be sitting in porch rockers while watching our grandchildren play in the yard when we’re eighty years old?

Fuck, no.

At some point, we’ll have to dissolve the marriage. Hell, I bet this kind of thing happens all the time. This is exactly why party atmospheres and quickie weddings don’t mix.

Years down the road, I’m sure it’ll be a hilarious story.

One I might even share with my family.

I pause, unable to imagine what my parents will say when they find out about this.

Make that if they find out about this.

Thoughts of the fam are enough to wilt my boner. And since that’s not the vibe I’m going for, I shove them from my head before sauntering into the sprawling bedroom without a stitch of clothing. Luckily, the idea of sliding deep inside Britt’s welcoming heat is enough to stiffen me right up again.

My gaze falls on the rumpled bed, only to find it empty. With a frown, I swing in a semi-circle but don’t find any sign of Britt. It takes a handful of seconds to realize that not only has she pulled a vanishing act, but so has her clothing.
