I quieted him with my mouth, kissing him until he melted against me. It felt powerful, having that effect on him. “Shh. We’ll talk about it later. Mom and Dad are expecting us for dinner, remember?” Everyone had taken Ronan in and loved him like he was their own. My siblings nagged him, and my parents parented him. It was great. I loved seeing Ronan with them.

“Shit. We should get ready to go. I don’t want to be late. But afterward, I think we should make a stop by our spot.” The swimming hole was between our house in Lakewood—I’d moved in with Ronan—and my parents’ place.

“You trying to get me naked?” I teased.

“Do I really have to try, though?”

I laughed. “No.” I kissed him again. “Come on. Let’s go.”

We had dinner with my whole family. There were about ten of us. Ronan laughed and held my hand and played with my nieces and nephews. Mom asked us about wedding plans—the ceremony was planned for the upcoming fall.

We waited until late to leave, then went to our spot, the one I’d left him at all those years ago. We stripped out of our clothes and jumped in, something we could only do this time of year. When we came up for air, I wrapped my arms around him and kissed him, so thankful to have him and looking forward to our future. “I love you.”

Ronan leaned in and nibbled my lip. “I love you too.”
