Holden leans in closer, so our lips are almost touching. “We could go back to mine. I have much better wine.”

I don’t want to say no. Holden is good looking. Nice. And it’s not the first time I have met him. But it’s our first date. So should I?

Rhianna said I shouldn’t, but she is also getting sex.

I, on the other hand, am not. And I could really do with a male appraisal of my body. Preferably with his hands and mouth.

I nod, and Holden smirks, waves his hand for the check, and places his hand on my thigh.

I get giddy by that simple movement. It doesn’t help that we’ve had three glasses of wine at the bar and two more at dinner.

“Do you have to work tomorrow?” I ask, leaning into him as well. He turns to me, his lips pulling into soft, thin lines before he answers, “No, I’m all yours.”

He also knows I have a kid, which is reassuring because my body isn’t the same as it used to be. I have white lines on my thighs, and my boobs don’t sit as high as they used to. They need more support now—no more perky boobs after you have a child.

The waiter comes over, and Holden pays, stands, and takes my hand in his to help me up before we start walking out.

I pause when we get to his car.

Should I?

“Rylee,” he says. It’s a stark contrast to what Anderson would call me. Baby. He would scream it. It was disgusting.

“Sorry, just stuck in my head.”

He nods as if he understands. Holden is a few years older than me. Why he isn’t married? I don’t know and haven’t cared to ask.

Should I ask?

I’m not sure.

He dresses well, isn’t a felon, has a job, and is polite—tick, tick, tick, and tick.

So why isn’t my heart beating out of my chest for him?

“Let’s get out of our heads. I know all too well what that can do to you.”

“What?”

“Being stuck in your head. It’s what I do. I’m always stuck in my own.”

I smile at his nice words as he opens the car door for me, and I slide in. I watch as he strides around to his side of the car, then he drives to his place.

I’m about to have sex.

Holy shit!

Chapter 13

Rylee

His house is lovely, but I didn’t expect it to be any less if I am honest. Compared to my apartment, this place is a mansion. It’s on the fourth floor of a building, and he has the whole floor.

It screams money.

And I am very much used to money.

He shows me around, lingering at his bedroom, leaving the door open as we walk back to the wine area. Yes, I said that. He has an extensive wine area. He opens the wine cabinet and reaches for a bottle.

“This one is my favorite. You must try it.” Holden pours us both a glass. His sleeves are rolled up on his blue button-up shirt, showcasing his forearms. He has nice arms. He smiles at me, his sun-kissed hair perfectly in place.

I take my time, letting my eyes take him in, much the same as he did to me.

“Would you prefer I remove the shirt?” he asks, lifting one brow, obviously catching me in the act. He hands me my glass and I lift it to my lips.

“Yes, very much so,” I reply with a smirk.

He doesn’t waste any time, putting his glass down and unbuttoning his shirt, one by one, before he slides it open and off.

And I look.

Oh, boy, do I look.

My Jimmy Bob in my drawer just isn’t doing it for me like he should be. I need friction, action, hands roaming my body, a mouth touching me. I need.

Standing, I walk around to him, the glass still in hand as I come to a stop in front of him.

“You’re not what I imagined,” he says, reaching for my face.

I lean up to look him in the eyes, noticing they look like chocolate, as I wait for him to speak again. “You’re oh so much better.”

I reach for his stomach, my fingers dancing on his bare skin. His abs fit and not what I pictured most lawyers to be. Though Noah is an exception.

“Do you want to finish your wine first?” he asks, sliding my hair back and reaching for me. His hands touch my neck and slip down the back of my dress, so I finish the wine quickly and place the glass down, then close the distance between us. He takes it, letting me, and unzips me from the back.

I let my dress fall to the floor, leaving me in nothing underneath. I kind of hoped I would be getting lucky tonight. I’m glad that it’s coming true because lately, I have been stressed.

“Should we take this to the bedroom?” Holden asks, pulling back slightly so he can read me. I nod and turn around. I can feel his eyes burning into my ass as I saunter to his room.
